Using it to count water meter gauge. Using MQTT on a ESP8266 with an 18k resistor between ground and signal. Has been working great for a week.

I am attaching a screen capture with the correct wiring for the same product from a different company (KNACRO DC 5V E18-D80NK Infrared Photoelectric Switch). The wiring information provided in the questions for this product is not correct and as a result the product will not work when wired that way. Here is one user's comments for the KNACRO, which is the same as the HiLetgo listed here:Works well for an arduino project. Used this for a pellet stove hopper sensor. Just hook the brown to the phone charger/ 5v dc input. Use a 18k resistor between the ground and signal out to get the signal voltage to 3.3v. Signal out is the black wire and blue goes to the ground pin. This will make it so when the sensor path is blocked it will output a HIGH signal 3.3v and when it is not blocked it will sink the voltage and have a 0v output signal. Sensor also has an strength adjustment screw to adjust effective distance and an LED to know when the sensor is blocked.
