I used this unit to make a parking aid in my garage. Big vehicle small garage. I didn't use the provided mirror because I wanted it to trigger off my vehicle and didn't want the mirror attached to the side of my truck so I used some reflective tape that worked well. Also found it triggers well off the oem side reflectors that are part of the tail and running lights. I didn't use the relay portion of the unit as I mounted the unit on my garage wall and I can easily see the led change from yellow to green when I get parked. Seems to work almost as well with any color reflector or tape ; red, amber, or white, but you'd have to verify this, could reduce operating distance ? Update : Two days later : Since the relay portion of the unit was not being unused I added a second 24 volt LED that I already had and now it is easier to see because now I have two that illuminate when the vehicle is into the garage far enough.

Got this back in January '24 to "watch" my equipment shop for tools that seem to "walk" away. Only a few false trips (tripped by flying insects). If tripped by 2 legged insects siren wails while insects chirp ... less than a second so no problems. Camera sees insect trips ... others run like hell .... Yes, so far no walk away tools. Way more reliable than other light beam sensors I have used before costing far more money. Reflector to light source is about 12-14 feet.

These work with either AC or DC. I use them on commercial dock doors to trigger the Stop-N-Go lights for trailers and to lock out the dock plate. They do not need a reflector. As long as they are in proximity to the door frame, they trigger. I have also used them on a cardboard baler to trigger when the bale ejects. I had to adjust the sensitivity due to fruit flies triggering it. The person who said the N.O. tips were shorted most likely simply needed to turn the mode pot. Well worth the money. Have bought more than 18, all work great.

This photo eye is awesome and easy to adjust and wire up. I thought about buying another one in case I need one for a different project!!!!

I returned the unit as the the unit was described on Amazon as requiring a supply Voltage: 12-240VDC but the marking on the unit itself indicated 24-240VDC for the Blue/Brown leads. I wanted one that clearly identified the input voltage was to be12V and so re-ordered one a bit more expensive. It would probably work fine if you use 24VDC source voltage.
