It was lighter than I thought it would be, but holds the force of the strings over the nut just fine.There really isn't much to say other than I'd buy it again. Although for a four string bass maybe just get the 2-string unit and save the 3-string one for a five string bass.

Works exactly as described and light weight. It is a big improvement over the button style retainer it replaced. Took a couple of minutes to install and the design makes is very easy to change strings. Also, the matte black finish looks great.

Nice high quality, some machining marks still buy I don't mind, doesn't match the rest of the black hardware on my bass (cheap Chinese stuff) but it blends in with the headstock. I'm using it on a 4 string that had trouble with the A string not having enough pressure over the nut, works wonderfully for that purpose although finding a place for it was difficult.

Great product. the way this hipshot retainer manages your 3 high strings is really useful and it takes a less space than the typical round retainer.

I am a Hipshot Products fan. If I need a guitar part. I will buy Hipshot first if they have the part. The 3-string retainer is my choice for a 4-string bass. You really don't need a retainer on the E string, but it holds every other string tight on the nut, it looks great, and it is from Hipshot.
