I intended to purchased this to test SMD LEDs. After asking the question on the forum if this device can do this, they said yes! When I got it, I immediately tested it with great satisfaction. There is a slide switch toward the probes that can be switch to diodes to provide the necessary voltage/current to illuminate the LED to indicate the actual color as well as the current reading.I was very impressed on how well the unit was designed and put together. Very steady and really felt like an expensive piece of test equipment in my hand. I really appreciated the fact that it came with separate test leads, which also felt like high quality probes and leads. And the added bonus of a very well made storage case to protect the unit. It even had a place to store the batteries with the unit when not in use for longer periods. Awesome work!The only improvement I can suggest would be to provide a third set of attachable tweezer tips that can be used to test the smaller 0402 and 0201 sizes.This is definitely worth the money for us DIY'ers and has a definite place among all my other test equipment.

This little gem of a tool is awesome! On board component testing! Diode and led testing with live voltage on the meter. Great tool worth every penny.

Although the accuracy it's not so great for small value capacitors (under 500p) it's easy to use and is very useful for testing small smd components before and after these are attached on pcbs; it's a valuable tool regarding its price. Extra test wires are also useful.

Kind of difficult to use on very small SMD but it is accurite when you can get it on them.

I got frustrated with this meter. It could not get a stead capacitance reading. It would jump all over the place and most of the time provides and O.L which the manual does not explain. It should say something like NR for no reading and 000 F for a shorted capacitor.Another problem is that the probe contact points are too bit and you cannot read small capacitors close together. The probe cables are also too fat. The probe cables should be needle points as this is supposed to be used for SMD components. It could be the one I got was broken but I can only evaluate by what I experienced.It should have a way to turn the probe off. It stays on for 15 minutes and you cannot change this time.

The tweezer part is poorly designed so the tips are not well aligned and that should be expected from a $20 item :).
