Carbon steel pipe taps are designed to clean and/or rethread to damage or block pipe threads.
Right-hand cutting tool has a clockwise cutting function.
NPT Pipe taps sizes includes:1/4"-18 NPT, 3/8"-18 NPT, 1/2"-14 NPT, 3/4"-14 NPT, 1"-11,5 NPT. Equipped with special storage box.
Round shank, square end. Straight flute tools allow chips to collect in the Flutes as they cut and are well suited for most applications in shallow cuts.
Uncoated tools have only the base material and do not need any additional treatment or coating, so they can be widely used.

i cut my own pipe, and i use these to make sure that my threads match the threads on couplings or unions.i recommend dosing them with wd-40 after use, and liberally when cutting threat with cutting oil

The 1/4, 3/8 as are the larger taps are good and quite sharp. The others are quite dull. The big ones are pretty good but intermediate (popular) are not good. I will regrind the larger taps and it should be a really good set. The 1/2†is a disaster, I’ll get out a diamond bit and see what i can do.

I have frequently used Tap's during my 50+ years as a Heavy Equipment Mechanic. I bought this set because I could not find my 1" NPT tap. The steel used in this set (I only use 1" Tap), is junk. All I was doing is cleaning up an existing 1" bushing, that already has an NPT thread on it, and this tap not only would not recut it, the Tap itself rounded it's cutting threads over, making it useless. SIMPLY JUNK!!
