Black Roman numerals, serpentine hands, convex glass crystal, and a brass-tone bezel stand out over the off-white dial to easily tell time. It has quartz, triple-chime Harmonic movement with volume control and automatic nighttime chime shut-off option. Requires one C sized battery (not included).

The wood on my clock looks better than pictured. The set up was easy and to me, the chimes sound mechanical not digital. The fit and finish is very good and appears solidly constructed. The clock face is larger than expected but works well as it can be seen easily from across the room. So far the time is accurate the night time shut off feature is perfect, when set the last chime is at 10:00 pm and starts back at 6:00 am. It came in well packaged however if not handled correctly I'm sure it could be damaged in shipment, box was marked handle with care Glass. I would recommend this product based on a week of ownership.

Great clock. I had originally ordered what I thought was a good chime mantel clock for $179 from another manufacturer only to find it defective (speaker wire pulled out of soldered connection inside), so I thought spending the extra money on the Howard Miller clock would be worth the extra cost and I was right. This clock is well-made with a beautiful wood finish and has excellent chimes which we keep on low volume. The other clock had a smaller speaker and a cheap plastic cover on the back. The Howard Miller clock has a wooden cover on the back of the clock to access settings which adds to its well-finished appearance. A bit of advice- read the directions before setting it up for the first time which I skipped doing. You have to set the time to 5:50 before putting the batteries in and adjusting the time to ensure the chimes on the hour are synched with actual time. It wasn't a big deal to correct. I'm pleased with this purchase.

This is a wonderful mantel clock with classic styling. Although the chimes are electronic rather than physical, I'm very pleased with the realistic tone and deep voice for such a modestly sized speaker. My initial volume setting for the chime is about 30% of max which seems on par with our older mechanical chime clock. Setup of the new clcok was easy, and the chimes were immediately in sync with the indicated time. So far, the timekeeping accuracy seems spot on. I would expect very long life out of the batteries. It uses one C-cell for the clock and another C-cell for the chimes. I like the convex glass over the face, the roman numerals on the face, and the style of the hands. The wood cabinetry has a nice finish, and the quality seems good even though it was made in China. I hope this clock lasts beyond a lifetime so I can pass it down to my kids.

I don't think it happens often enough that a buyer feels the merchandise received is much better than expected from the description and picture in the advertisement. This Howard Miller 635-107 Burton II Mantel Clock is one of those delightful surprises. Not only is this a nice-looking clock with a high quality wood work and overall design, but it also chimes in a pleasantly deeper and mellow tone. The most significant test of any clock, of course, is its ability to keep time. Here, Howard Miller clocks seem to be at their best. I have another cheaper model of Howard Miller mantle clock in my study and have been amazed by the accuracy of the bock clocks in keeping time. For a month I have had both clocks set to chime exactly on time, they have not gained or lost even a second. If I may add to the highest praise I have for my Howard Miller clocks, they were delivered on time and came in sturdy double-packaging with the original factory-sealed box inside an Amazon.com box. Seriously, I have no business interest or connection with Howard Miller or Amazon.com. I just feel they deserve our thanks for good business practice.. SHK

Great sound, keeps excellent time, following the time of my phone exactly. Noticed the timing mechanism is made by rhythm - so it would be comparable to a rhythm clock. Liked this one because it does not have a pendulum since that seems to fail 1st.The sound is really deep and genuine, only complaint I have is the last chime of the hour cuts out before it finishes the end of the tone, not that noticeable but I caught it right away - it they would have added 2 seconds to end of the last tone it would seem more real.I replaced a mechanical winding clock and this is an improvement as I do not have to wind it every 4 days...takes 2 C batteries so I'm sure it will run a long time on these.Clock also has a glass lens face instead of the plastic that would be on some of the other clocks.

I want to help anyone who might lose their clock chime setting instructions. The Howard Miller web site's generic quartz movement clock setting instructions omit the following important information for this clock: When you need to reset the clock an hour or more, first remove both batteries and adjust the clock to 5:50. Then insert both batteries and advance the clock to the current time. Note the clock is reset to 5:50AM, so you will advance the hands clockwise past 12:00 if you want to set it to a PM time. This procedure is important to ensure the chimes will ring to match the hour, i.e.: 8 chimes for 8:00. I nearly lost my instructions and was in pickle until I found them. I want to help someone else out who might find themselves less lucky. It's a great mantel clock - large, solid, elegant and accurate.

Received this clock a couple of months ago. Loved it from the start. Accurate and beautiful. Then I had a question about DST. Went to the Howard Miller website and tried to call. Would have just loved to be able to email the company to obtain assistance. Absolutely no help whatsoever! I am extremely disappointed. A product can be fantastic and you can even love it but to have no way to receive help from the manufacturer when needed surely detracts from customer satisfaction. I'm finding it difficult to rate this clock. I want to give it 5 stars for the product and zero stars for customer support.

This was a golden wedding anniversary present to ourselves and we love this clock. Big, strong, real wood, Big easy to read clock face, lovely chimes. You do need a lot of space to put it but the clock itself is a dream.
