I had a lot of difficulties starting and keeping my Stihl trimmer running. I tried taking apart the carb and cleaning it. I tried messing with idle and throttle adjustments. Nothing worked. It would start and almost immediately stahl. Then, I thought maybe a fuel line was bad or cracked. Upon searching for a replacement, I discovered this kit. It included pretty much everything, including a new carb. I said to myself...why not. It's dirt cheap. Installed most everything, except the spark plug. I already had a nice NKG. Make sure your fuel lines are routed correctly, so you don't don't pinch a line or prevent carb from seating correctly. This thing fired right up and ran perfectly. I didn't even have to adjust idle or throttle. Thank you!
Retired for good!

My FS38 quit running after many years of somewhat temperamental service. I was going to try and rebuild the carburetor myself, but then found this little gem and figured for $13 and change I had little to chance. Replacement was pretty straightforward after watching a single YT video for the how-to details (the two 8mm nuts were a snug fit with a 1/4" drive socket) but I had no problems whatsoever and had it swapped out in about twenty minutes. A couple of good pushes on the priming bulb and two pulls later and my trimmer ran like it was brand new, if not better. I immediately used it to trim my entire yard and it never stalled once but did run very strong the entire time. I did zero adjustments after installation and still have the old carb to clean up and keep as a spare due to the numerous spare parts included. A trip to the small engine shop would have easily been a $50-$75 cost, but save the money and do it yourself!

PRO - Came quickly, was an exact fit for the Stihl FS-46, installed in 20 minutes, fired right up, minor adjustment, complete tune up, new spark plug, fuel line, filters, trimmer roars like new, instant throttle response 😀.CON - No instructions, 8mm nut driver required to remove carburetor, I DID NOT GET THIS SOONER.Not a difficult repair at all. I give it a rating of 2 wrenches 🔧🔧.Take time to go and watch tutorials on YouTube, there are many. Take a minute to clean and degrease your machine. Prevent contamination from dirt. Get an 8mm nut diver as the bolts are nestled in and tough to get at. Dump the old fuel, start with fresh ETHANOL FREE FUEL, and the Stihl 2 cycle oil. Also remove and clean the spark arrestor, it get clogged with carbon over time. Just burn it off with a butane lighter, or a torch. Easy. The Stihl tools are made to run at full speed, this will help keep carbon fouling to a minimum. If you do not plan to use it for more than a couple of weeks, put the fuel back in the fuel can. Dump it and run till dry. I might add this is the first tune up for 12 years, other than air filter. Oh one more thing, there is fuel in the new carb from testing, do not be surprised when fitting the fuel line. RECOMMENDED

I purchased a STIHL FS46 about four years ago, and it has always been hard to start. This past summer, it wouldn’t start at all. I replaced the spark plug, fuel filter, and cleaned the carburetor. While it did start, it wouldn't run under a load. Frustrated, I planned on giving it away for parts, as I didn't want to look at it anymore. After some research, I found this carburetor kit online. I ordered it, and it was delivered on time. Unboxing and installing it was fairly easy and straightforward, even if you have minimal mechanical knowledge. I filled the tank with fresh premixed gas, primed it, and with the choke fully engaged, pulled the rope twice—it fired right up. After warming it up, I went to work. This is the best it has ever run. Even without any adjustments, it has more power, runs smoothly, and idles well.I believe I will get many more years of use from it now.

This is a great solution for the price. Some people stated that the old fuel lines did not fit and that’s true, you need to replace those too. The fittings are different. The gaskets were not perfect but since the old one was still in good shape, I just reused it. The nuts are difficult to remove as my #8 socket was too wide. I heated the socket slightly with a torch and it melted the plastic to widen the space. No issues with function. But don’t make it cherry red either. Like most stated the idle needed some adjustment. Spark plug and air filter were perfect fit. Let’s see how long it lasts.

My stihl string trimmer has always been hard to start, and this past week I could no longer start it. New electric string trimmers are expensive, so I figured I would try this first. This kit installed in several minutes. To my surprise my string trimmer started with two pulls! I didn’t adjust anything on the carb, and while I put different gas in (the kit replaces fuel lines and filters too) it was the same age as what I had in there before.I like the idea of new and low maintenance electric tools, but it’s great to keep my existing tools running, and running great!
