I purchased the H.View NVR3216-P16 a couple of weeks, this is my first NVR so I am a newbie. This is replacing an ADT Dahua NVR, I am using the ADT Dahua POE cameras that came with that install that was in my house when I purchased it. I selected the 16 channel vs the 8 given I plan to add more POE cameras in the future and wanted a high ceiling for future expansion. The NVR arrived about 4 days after order in solid packaging. I had ordered a 6TB WD Purple SATA internal drive as well, and installed that which was very straightforward. If I find I want to keep recordings longer, I can add a second drive later.I set it up in my office where I could one of my monitors via the HDMI cable for initial setup including LAN access. The NVR came with a basic setup manual which helped. Once basic setup was done I moved the NVR to my data closet and attached the ethernet cables running from the cameras to the POE ports and LAN access. I then logged in via the web GUI. In order to see video feeds and given my primary compute is Mac, I setup Safari leveraging the IE user agent. This worked great. All the Dahua cameras were pretty much plug and play after I had reset them and setup the proper TCP/IP settings. I set it to record 24x7. I then downloaded and setup the Guard Viewer IOS app and set it up. That also is working great, I get motion alerts on my iPhone that I setup on the NVR. I can then view a live feed from any of the cameras from anywhere. I was also able to update the firmware level from the NVR GUI. Given this was my first NVR setup, I am very happy so far. I plan to add some H.View cameras in the near future to expand on my deployment. If there are any areas for improvement, I would like to see better product documentation and firmware update release notes on the H.View support site.
