This case is GREAT!!! It holds my Ibanez BTB 5-string absolutely perfect. Before I purchased this case, I had bought a DIFFERENT Ibanez case...(model - WB500C). Even though the WB500C case is touted as being able to fit Ibanez 'BTB' basses, I could NOT get my bass to fit. The neck of the bass sat too high in the cradle and the lid would just not close. Perhaps it was just a manufacturing defect on the one I bought...who knows! Anyway, I decided to purchase THIS case (the MRB500C). My BTB 5-string bass fits in there like a dream; it's a perfectly snug fit. The case seems very well built and rugged. The latches are meaty and substantial; very high quality feel. There isn't a ton of storage in this case, but it's adequate for my needs. It comes with a nice quality zippered 'tool case' which fits perfectly in one of the compartments. I can't speak for how well other basses (Ibanez or otherwise) will fit in this case, but I can highly recommend this case for anyone with an Ibanez BTB 5-string!. (BTB basses are 35" scale, and the 5-string versions have 19mm string spacing and 1.85" nut width).

For basses that don't come with a case and are also not a Fender bass, this is your case. It will fit just about anything with its universal shape. However, it still has a shape for the body that prevents the guitar from flopping around. The foam inserts are ok, but I will probably make my own to get a tighter fit. Nothing wrong with them, but the foam is not compliant. The inserts are pretty rigid. The latches are on par with every other case that uses these TSA plastic latches. I have 2 cases that use the same latches. They look like they come from the same factory. They work. However, when the case is closed you can separate the aluminum channel by applying a bit of pressure on either side of the case right by the handle. It looks like the latches are mounted 1mm to close to each other making is to that it doesn't latch super tight right there. Possible modification to fix.The outer shell seems tough enough. It does have a bit of flex to it, which I think is due to the size of the case. I would have preferred the outer shell to be a bit more rigid, but it will due.The internal storage is excellent. Several little areas to hold your bits and bobs. The zipper pouch is a nice touch. There is neck support that you can flip over 5/6 or 4 string necks. This is a nice idea, but under the neck block is a bump in the liner with foam under it. This makes the neck support stick up and not be able to sit flush with the rest of the neck support. It might compress when the case is closed, but do you really want to be putting a lot of extra pressure on your neck in that area? I don't. I feel like I should be putting a thin strip of HDPE between the strings and the frets to prevent the strings from grinding the frets while it's in the case. I don't think this case is particularly offensive in that regard but it seems like a good idea.To sum it up - For the price, it is the best case I have found for non-Fender basses. But for that much cheddar, it really should be a notch higher quality.

Compared to the Ibanez MB300C Electric Bass Guitar Hard-shell Case This one is because universal fit, it has lot of gaps all around the Ibanez Workshop SR Cerro Singlecut 5 String Electric Bass Guitar. Even with the 1,2,3 and 4 blocks there is some movements around the neck. Ibanez should consider making it's Owen Case for each body type! Over Priced for Imperfection! Don't even have the Ibanez logo on Case!

I really, really wanted to like this case. The external case material and design is very good. The problems start when you find out that Ibanez designers think that stuffing two pads numbered one and two either side of your treasured guitar is acceptable. Considering the price of the case my guitar should have had a bespoke case made for it. You can see from my photographs that the neck of my guitar is forced into the inside of the lid, in time I expect my frets will be damaged by the strings being pushed on them. There are four latches only one is TSA approved locking. They all seem to be that plastic that snaps off easily, you know type I'm referring to. There's a nice tool kit case provided but there's nothing in it. I'm disappointed. Ibanez must do better than this.
