I used this mat during replacement of my speakers on my MacBook Pro. It includes a dry erase pen to write on the mat so you can keep all of the little pieces and parts organized and in order. This was incredibly helpful to have during my project. We kept the box to keep the tools and mat together for future projects.

This is the Pro version of the mat! There is a lower end unit of the iFixit Project Mat that some people were concerned that they had received. So I wen to the iFixit website which states that there are three differences between the Pro and Standard version.Pro Notes: (per iFixit website)The Pro version of the Magnetic Mat has a non-slip foam backing, and features a much more powerful magnet making it ideal for larger screws and metal objects.It is also .105" in thickness compared to the Standard at 0.035". The mat I received DOES HAVE the non-slip foam backing and is exactly 0.105" in thickness. I LOVE THIS ITEM! I have been taking apart a lot of Wii's and projectors lately which both have a lot of screws. It is nice to be able to draw out a diagram or write a note as to where the screws go and any issues I encountered. My only wish is that the mat was much larger. It is 8"x10" and I would love for it to be, I don't know. 11"x17". That way I could draw more detailed diagrams or have two projects going at once. However, the size did not lessen the number of stars I gave it because trying to organize screws before this was nigh impossible! So thanks to iFixit, once again, for their GREAT product!

I love ifixit and I have used their website and some of their other tools over the last few years when repairing and upgrading many different items. This mat is another great tool for keeping track of all the screws and other little parts that are in todays electronic devices.The pen that came with my mat was completely dried out though. I did not contact ifixit or return the item to Amazon since I starting using the mat immediately. I ordered a 4 pack of the same markers in different colors from Amazon and they work very well.Even when I do not write on the mat during a project I love that it holds things in one place on my work bench.Another reviewer commented that they thought the item was the pro version since the vendor sells the pro model on their website for the same price. I ordered this before that reveiw was posted but realized from the description that this was the non-pro model when I purchased it. I do not fault ifixit for the price difference. Using Amazon to fulfill orders is not free for the vendor. That is why you will often find price differences on certain items when they use Amazon fulfillment. All I can say is read the descriptions carefully and buy directly from the vendor when ordering multiple units since the shipping plus the item cost will probably be cheaper. If you want it fast or want the simplicity that Amazon ordering offers, you can be thankful like I am that the vendor made this item available directly from Amazon warehouses.

I was surprised that it's only slightly bigger than a sheet of typing paper. I had wrongly assumed that you put the laptop on this to work on it, but it's perfect if you are working on a phone. It's to hold small parts and screws and it does do this well. The pen is nice and writes well and the magnetic mat holds tiny screws and parts well. Writing on the mat can be cleaned off with a tissue. It seems a bit overpriced for what it is.

This is the pro version of iFixit's magnetic mats. It comes in the white cardboard packaging instead of the white plastic blister on blue cardboard and it's definitely the thicker model. This pad is fairly stiff and definitely will not roll up if that's a concern of your's. Already had a chance to use this today and I love it. No more lost screws - hopefully.The grip is fantastic as you can see from the picture of the mat being held vertically with a couple of tweezers and an assortment of screws and nuts holding to it just fine, and the entire surface of the mat is magnetic. Just for the heck of it I tossed it at a fridge to see if it stuck or slid off and it stuck instantly and actually took a little effort to peel it off.Btw. It's cheaper to buy the this item here on amazon than it is buying it directly from the manufacturer's site and paying even their cheapest shipping. The cheapest option they gave me to the east coast was $9.30 shipping for a $19.99 product. Got it next day for free with prime - don't know how they do it..Everything about the product is great, shipping was faster than I needed it to be with the item arriving next day. No complaints. My only comment is one I've made about a lot of other items sold by ifixit on here and on their own site. Why so much packaging?? I get that you want to protect the product in transit but it's almost (if not always) complete and total overkill. It honestly makes you wonder if ifixit owns a cardboard factory. I'd gladly pay a little less for reduced packaging that did the job without going so overboard.

It basically feels like a mouse pad with a whiteboard attached to it. The rubber gripping bottom helps it handle slight bumps when having it on my desk. The marker that came with it works perfectly, and the strength of the magnet leaves me no worries that I will lose any of my small screws.This thing is great and will help a lot in future repairs. IFixit never fails to provide quality.

Il tappetino è di ottima fattura ed è magnetizzato in maniera ottima: riesce senza problemi a tenere le viti in posizione ma anche plate protettive e addirittura componenti piccoli. Estremamente comoda la possibilità di scrivere e classificare le parti. Assolutamente consigliato per qualunque riparazione che richiede precisione ed ordine.

I fix things all the time and of course have a number odd old tubs, yogurt pots and frozen food trays to put the bits in. I must say this does do the job well and you can move the tray without things falling off. No it does not make screws etc magnetic but you still need the odd pot for plastic and non magnetic parts. I store my board on the side of a filing cabinet to which it attaches very well. The supplied pen is a bit of a nuisance as it requires some alcohol or similar cleaner to remove the writing. Why they couldn't supply a water based pen I don't know. One extra would to be a couple of small metal based trays of the correct size to hold non magnetic parts so for this missing part I award 4 stars. Still worth buying if the price is right!

I bought one of those cheaper $17.99 pads that comes with a marker and an eraser. It was so bad I just returned it. It had no magnetism, and the marker was open in the package and dried out. On top of this, it was so thin it came bent and wrinkled.So I ordered this mat, and now I'm a happy camper. The magnetic pad works well, the marker works well and the pad is at least double the thickness, making it much more robust. Well worth the extra $10. It also came in a decent cardboard package that took a little effort, and not just the cheap cellophane plastic the other one came in.I would easily recommend this pad.
