I gifted this to my daughter who is 12. It comes with safety gloves to handle the sharp blades. This was very easy for her to follow with the directions. The blades are very sharp so it cuts through the wood with ease. She said the gloves were a little big for her hands but they were comfortable. Overall the quality is great and everyone is happy!

I bought a nicer kit for my grandson earlier this week, but realize that he may need a beginners kit to start out learning this craft. This is a good beginners kit. It has less knives and easier materials to carve. Very satisfied with this beginners kit.

Great kit. We got a two person beginner project kit from another company. The knives in this kit come much sharper but a whetstone will be needed down the line and we needed smaller gloves for my son and my smaller hands to round out this kit. Really like the set and the basic knife is our preferred knife over the 2 given in the other starter set.

Cute little set up for beginners. Comes with a few basic cutters and wood blocks. The wood carves well. Easy to use tools. Size is perfect. Fun set for kids to learn how to whittle.

The kit comes as described. The description and photos would suggest it is a good gift for kids, which it is. However the gloves are definitely adult size. Both my 6 year old and 10 year old tried on the gloves and they were very loose and therefore hard to work with.

Would be great for a beginner of any age where the person can use a tool safely.

We signed him up for Boy Scout camp this summer and had a whittling chip badge ftomCub Scouts, but he crossed over into a Troop and needed to earn the next one up. He went to Boy Scout camp that week and I heard from his Cubmaster that he would literally get logs out of the woods and start to whittle them with his tiny, pitiful knife. I wanted to foster his interest, so I bought this kit. Lo and behold he is literally outside on the patio whittling every time he's not playing a video game!! lol. He is so proud. He's on the spectrum, so it makes me extra happy to see him so thrilled with some thing and to be gaining confidence from it.Pics are 1. Heart for mom 2. Large mushroom 3. Mushroom slide for his scout kerchief to remind him of his nature hike at camp.
