I purchased one of the original Incra Gauges a number of years ago, and I love it. Makes laying out or marking things in my shop much easier. I wanted a second gauge for my home garage, so I purchased the latest version. I noticed that the knob holding the two halves in their position has changed from brass to plastic. It still works like the original, but there is just something to be said about the brass knob that the plastic version can't touch. Regarding accuracy, I set the new one at the 1" mark, then measured it with my Mitutoyo micrometers, and it read 1.0090. Close enough for me.

*Dead-on accurate as I’ve come to expect from tools I’ve purchased from Incra*Using primarily for woodworking, like that slight bevel in ruler edge improves marking accuracy when accounting for pencil lead thickness*Mine came with plastic knob, thought brass based on pictures I’d seen online*By necessity screw is short so you need to be careful you don’t lose it and or knob/washer*Unicolor plastic obviously cheaper to produce but can make reading digits for setup difficult* All things considered, worth the price for the accuracy alone

I was skeptical about this plastic gauge, but it turned out to be a sturdy and very accurate gauge. While with other gauges you have to use a ruler to set it to certain distance, the incremental grooves of this gauge make it impossible to miss even a fraction of a measurement. Great buy!

This little gizmo is wonderful. It lets you easily mark EXACT distances SQUARE to an edge. Do it on two adjacent edges and locate points in 2D with 1/32" precision. It's all effortless and completely repeatable.The gauge has a few other tricks, too, but it's worth it just for the basic measuring feature. One thing that may not be obvious from the photos is that the marking surface is long enough that's it's easy to make long lines parallel to an edge just by sliding the device.

Excellent product.Performs exactly as advertised and I have successfully used it set the height of dado set and router bit as well setting distances on boards. In addition, I find the centering feature on the ends to be excellent for dropping a centerline on boards. The scales on the device are difficult to read because they are raised letters and marks that are the same color as the device. Because they are raised, however, a quick swipe along the letters with a fat sharpie turned them all black. Took about five minutes and all the markings and letters became easy to see.

My marking knife tends to cut into the marking surfaces. And the surfaces are not ground flat. Would be a precision tool if it were metal or even a harder plastic, like the Incra Jig. Also, measurement markings on the guage are so hard to read (the device being all one color) I had to use a marker to darken the numbers and gradations to use the tool. Other tools I've gotten from Incra have been top notch, so I have been disappointed with this product.

Great, simple, little tool. You will think, I don't need that, I just measure and mark. Then you get one and you will be looking around for this thing more than for your drill. Great, just great. For the money, you should already have one on the way...
