This product is an industrial USB to TTL converter. It adopts the original FT232RL, with built-in self-healing fuse, ESD and 10 protection diode circuit. It is small and exquisite. The original FT232RL chip is adopted to provide better stability and compatibility, and easily realize the industrial high-performance communication between computer and TTL equipment

5V: 5V supply voltage
VCC: output 3.3V or 5V (the module is powered by USB, and the switch must be switched to 3.3V or 5V)
GND: connected to GND
TXD: connected to MCU RX (signal flow direction: mcu.rx < RXD: connected to MCU TX (signal flow direction: MCU. TX > > ft232 > > pc.rx)
RTS: connected to MCU CTS (signal flow direction: MCU. CTS < CTS: connected to MCU RTS (signal flow direction: MCU. RTS > > ft232 > pc.cts)
PWR: power indicator, connected to USB, red light when voltage is detected
TXD: send indicator light, red light when data is sent from USB port

After purchasing several units, this brand actually worked. It might be the lame connections on the other units. This system has very nice connectors with cables. Thank you for making a decent product!

This is a technical product for technical users. For Windows users, if you don't understand what a virtual COM port (VCP) is, then this probably isn't for you. If you don't know where to find the Microsoft "usbview.exe" program on the FTDI website, then probably also not for you. In short, this is a technical product for technicians/experts.But for those, there are times when you need a device like this. And this is a fine product in those cases.From order to delivery I found it took 6 weeks!!! That's not acceptable.The cost on Amazon is twice the cost you'd find at Waveshare's web site for the same product. I can't speak to their delivery times or if there is any added costs for shipping that Prime members here might avoid. So keep all this in mind.But the product is excellent and if Amazon is your better source (it was, for me in this particular case) then I think the supplier met their obligations and is providing a quality product. I have no complaints on that score.The only thing I might complain about -- and it's unfair if you put yourself in their shoes for a moment -- is that the price could be better.If you care about price and are willing to go directly to Waveshare's web site, you'll find the same product at half the price here. And the shipping time may be no worse than I experienced (6 wks is pretty long for Amazon and had I known it would be that long I likely would have gone to the source, instead.) But we each have our own things to weigh on the scale. So my only complaint is minor -- price. And for the convenience and other values you get with Amazon as a middle-man, it may be worth the extra.

The software side is the only difficut part of a jtag/ttl to usb/usb to serial device. You just have to use Ubuntu or something otherwise it's pointless cygwin just doesn't support it.

I am using this for a OrangePI diagnostic port. Works great and it is nice having the TX/RX lights to validate it is connected corrected correctly
