My 7 year old son really wanted an ant farm for his birthday. I was nervous because I was worried some might escape or the ants would arrive dead. This kit had everything we needed for set-up, including the ants. The ants arrived alive and well. Something we thought would be kind of a hassle and more work for us parents, is actually one of the coolest things we have ever purchased for our kids. We have 5 kids- all of them & both of us adults are always checking on the ants to see what they’re up to. He has had this ant farm for at least 2-3 weeks now and only a few ants have died. There is no queen, so I didn’t figure they’d last this long. Pretty cool as it holds their attention for long periods of time and they are learning while observing!

I bought this thinking it would be fun and interactive for my preschool. The first delivery came with a tube of dead ants. They replaced them quickly. Second tube arrived alive, but ants were all dead within 4 days. The farm never even made it into my classroom. (Fortunately, as the kids would have been upset to see them all die.) I attempted to clean out the ant farm to buy more ants through another company and quickly realized it is near impossible to remove the dead ants and sand- especially those in the spirals on the sides of the container. My advice- stick to a well known brand. The cute playground set up looks fun, but is an impractical gimmick and the ants are not good quality.

The sand was just OK. The sand that comes with the ANT FARM is more coarse and whiter. It's easier to observe the ants with that sand. The sand you sent worked. I wish I could find the other kind of sand.

Waste of money and time. Look easy to put together but it wasn’t. Adding the sand and then water way a issue. Then adding (the dead ants) yes (Dead Ants ) it said on the yellow form that they might look good but they are sleeping because of cold weather that they came from we live in Florida and I put them near my lizard which is also a warm temperature area. We are on day two and day all day. They haven’t woken up and I don’t think they will. I would like my money back as soon as possible. My son is heartbroken with this purchase.

This was a great simple gift for my kids birthday. It's easy and very simple. The kids love to watch the ants. Very pleased
