The random feature will vary the time your lights turn ON by a few minutes to give your home a "lived in" look. It has two grounded receptacles. The Intermatic DT122K is a fantastic digital timer! I use one for my boa's enclosure to mimic the natural sunrise and sunset based on my region, which is perfect for maintaining a healthy light cycle. I also have another one set up for an LED grow light, and it’s been extremely reliable. The programming is straightforward, and the flexibility it offers with scheduling makes it incredibly convenient. All in all, this timer is super handy for various applications and works like a charm. Highly recommend it for anyone in need of an easy-to-use, reliable timer!

First, none of these digital timers ever has easy user interfaces. It would be very difficult to program this device without having the instructions in front of you. However I have about 6 others of these kinds of timers, and this one is just as easy as the others, maybe a little easier. The other brands often require you to get some information from the Internet to set sundown time. This one just gets you to set whether you're in the north central or South, and then to set your current sign-up time and sundown time, which you can easily get off your iPhone. After 2 minutes of setup, the thing worked amazingly. It has 2 outlets the are controlled, one on each side of the device. It also has a rechargeable battery backup, and when I received the device, the battery was still charge so I could set it up right away. All in all, this did everything it was supposed to do and more, and I couldn't be happier.

Regarding Orders of Faulty / Damaged Product DT122KTimers bought via AMAZON, Intermatic Store;2 orders of qty. 6 - BURNT ELECTRONICSTo start with, I am a professional low voltage lighting designer and installer of systems for the past 23 years. I know of the programming difficulties and operational difficulties customers have and report on the use of this and similar timers. I have installed hundreds of the previous generations of 7 day Astronomical / Digital Timers. Of which include the DT620 and DEFIANT 457864. So know this is NOT a programming problem. But a problem that 2 consecutive orders of quantity 6 that were sent to me via AMAZON throughIntermatic Store.These packages, when delivered had a very slight ozone smell associated of burnt electronics. This is something I am very aware of associated with decades of working with and replacing affected 12V lighting. However, because the timers appeared operational after charging and were working at first, I continued to install them for my customers who had purchased and I had installed new lighting systems for. The time and embarrassment I have spent trying to diagnose this intermittent problem while learning the quirks of a new timer go beyond my limit here, but suffice it to say I will NEVER install another timer of this model again. Multiple trips out with multiple timers to multiple customers from May to July was quite costly and humiliating. This was a Very unprofessional and discourteous service that was done to us. You repetitively sent out to your customers (and indirectly mine) product that was compromised . For you information the date codes on the product I got were 28N and 07N. I give that information in hopes that others might be spared similar problems and issues with you product.I cannot recuperate the loss of time and loss of good will for my company but I expect at least to be reimbursed for the product. And I would do much more for my customers if I were found negligent as you have been here.Sincerely

Works great. It does everything I have come to learn that they can do. From some of the reviews, it seems like some folks either have problems programing it or are not reading the instructions because the timers do all the things some reviewer claim they cannot. I liked a previous model because the whole cover acted as an ON/OFF switch so all you had to do is kick it lightly with your foot to turn the light on on a gloomy day (plugged into a baseboard outlet). This model requires getting down on the floor and trying to read with little button with turn the light on. I can't do that so I just live with the "thought of light" on a gloomy day. If I hadn't have a previous version, I guess I would never have known it could be better.

I used the timer to turn the lights on and off on the Christmas tree. If you take your time, read and understand the provided programming instructions, everything works fine. The timer is advertised to handle up to 15 amps. I had no issues in programming the timer and it worked as advertised. I would recommend this product to a friend.

Great timer. I have had similar timers from other manufacturers (GE) that don't work properly or don't last.Intermatic timers seem to work well and last.Delivery was quick.

Setup is very tricky and difficult it is not very well explained in the instruction sheet, the company does not offer any phone support to help. I have purchased other timer before much easier to set up, I got very feed up with it, to the point that I think the unit does not work very well. Only buy this if you have a lot of time to waist to try figuring it out by your own.
