I bought three of these to use for my ball pythons when we were first getting into the hobby. i only ended up using one and it worked great. I used it with heat rope instead of tape at first. Right now it is hooked up to an adult snake rack with heat tape and its working great. The only downfall is in order to be able to monitor it correctly, you have to hang it up which means putting holes in your walls or the rack systems themselves unless you want to pick it up to look at it everyday. it isnt heavy so a thumbtack held mine just fine and it never fell. A plus is, it comes with a metal tipped probe which is a must for reptile use. It is great for a temp heat control source, but if you are going to breed snakes, I would advise getting a herpstat brand or vivarium electronics brand thermostat. for the price and ease of using though, for a beginner hobbyist, these thermostats are good enough.

*DISCLAIMER*I used this unit not for its originally intended purpose for horticulture. I used this for regulating temperatures for reptile caging.I am using this unit to regulate the temps for two racks. 16 tub 6qt hatchling rack made by Reptile Basics, Inc. These racks feature a 11" flexwatt back heat which is not very efficient and you have to push your temps considerably in order to properly heat your tubs. This is not a proportional thermostat nor would it complete with something like the hobby specific thermostats like Herpstat, Helix, etc. This unit turns on to reach the temps you desire and then turns off when the point has been reached. After the temps drop below 2-4° below your desired temps then it kicks on again. This unit has worked flawlessly for the past 2 months and actually functions better than another unit I purchased which cost more! I will be choosing these to regulate some of my other individual cages which do not require the precision of a Herpstat (which are fantastic by the way). I would say to any reptile enthusiast that you should always place a thermostat on your reptile's heat source. Dimmer switches simply cannot control the temps when your ambient temps rise. Dimmers give constant power without regulating the temps. These kind of units or any thermostat specifically controlling temps will ultimately save you on your energy bill too.

I got one of these to control the temperature in my crested gecko's habitat. It worked excellently previously, keeping the temperature within 2-4 degrees of what I set it to, and made a quiet but audible click when it turned on and off. However, here we are 10 months later, and while it still turns on and off as expected, the temperature readout is much higher than what it actually is. For example, I have it currently set to heat the tanks to 82 degrees**, but the actual heat in the tank is about 69 degrees. The difference between the actual temperature and expected temperature is getting greater by the day, so I will soon be getting a replacement. But for the time it worked, it worked great!** I am aware this is far too hot for the temperature of a gecko's habitat to be. I had it set to this because I knew the thermostat was keeping the tank roughly 10 degrees below what I set it to. When it operated properly, I had the tank sitting at 70-72 degrees. Keep your reptiles happy!

Use this product in addition to a temperature probe to adjust heat output of the under tank heating pad I use for my snake's terrarium. The temperature on display on this device and my separate temperature probe are about 2 degrees off from each other so that's not too concerning for me. Would test accuracy of probe using a reliable thermometer or temperature gun if you were really concerned.

Great deal! Used this to keep my fig cuttings at ~77°F, which seems like to perfect zone to prevent rot and speed up rooting.

I'm using this with a small heat mat for my cornsnake. The mat itself gets to around 104F and that's way too hot for this species. Along with the included head probe, I also use a thermometer with its heat probe placed next to this one on top of the glass directly over the mat. I set the thermostat for 85F and it maintains a temp between 85F and 92F which is perfect. I can't explain why such a variance in temps, however this is a perfect device which does exactly what it says. I find that my snake spends time both in the hide over the heat mat, and on the cool side of the tank. This tells me that it's set up properly. Cannot speak for the longevity of this device, however it doesn't get hot or buzz or anything out of the ordinary.

Bought this for a DIY Leopard Gecko rack I built my son. Works great to control & keep temps within ideal ranges and controls about 12' feet of 4" Flexwatt heat tape. I would recommend this product as a cheaper alternative to some of those reptile thermostats that are a bit more expensive so long you understand the temperature will fluctuate a bit more with this type of unit compared to a Herpstat or a Vivarium Electronics unit. But I can tell you this unit keeps my sons 28qt tubs within a few degrees plus/minus 5 degrees throughout his 10 tub rack which stays within the ideal temps recommend for his geckos, so we are happy with it. We have 3 or 4 of these units now and have been using them for over a year now without issue.

I use these for reptiles, heat pads and heat tape. I have several dozen of them and never had one malfunction or die, they are excellent and cost a fraction of the big brands.

A la fecha excelente dispositivo. Lo incorporamos para el control de temperatura de un equipo de medición de permeabilidad al vapor de agua.An excellent tool to date. We incorporated it to another equipment to control temperature during the measurement of water vapor permeability.
