I honestly think this thing works great. I've had it over a year now and it's doing a great job and converting my chest freezer into a perfect beer and wine fridge. Its a little bit of a learning curve to find the correct setting so the freezer doesn't get too cold and freeze your booze, but I found setting this device to 37 degrees with a 2 degree variance is a good balance. Then it never dips below freezing and it's plenty cold, being anywhere between 39 and 35 degrees at all times.Side note for anyone trying to do this: Completely line the inside of your chest freezer with heavy cardboard first, that way it prevents the frost from extending onto your bottles and cans and freezing your booze. Which can still happen with this device since the freezer still thinks its "freezing things", the coils will still create frost on the interior walls during the "on" periods.

This thing is awesome. I'm using it to revive an old wine fridge I had who's temperature control broke. Now it works better than it did originally. This little thermostat is surprisingly high tech where it not only turns on and off the attached appliance when it meets the correct temperature but it also has tons of settings. For example, I'm able to change how big of a temperature differential I want between it turning off (cold) and turning back (warmer) on. Also, it has temperature alarms that you can set to trigger in case it gets to hot/cold so whatever your trying to do doesn't get damaged even if the fridge/heater fails. It even has a compressor delay, for fridges, so that it will give a minimum time for the compressor to rest before it turns on again. Overall, I'm very impressed and think this is worth every penny I spent on it, even though I don't even use the heat option.Pros:- Tons of features- Well made- Easy to use and does it's job wellCons:- temp probe isn't replaceable as far as I can tell- not best instructions (see my tip below)Tip: When you want to adjust the settings (ex. set temp) you need to hold down the "Set" button for 3 seconds, then set the settings, and finally hold down the "Set" button for another 3 seconds to save. If you don't hold it down for 3 seconds the second time all your changes will get lost.

I bought two refrigerator freezer convertibles from Home Depot, but they both turned out to be just freezers. I was very disappointed and frustrated, until I found a device that could adjust the temperature and make one of them act like a fridge. The device is called the Inkbird ITC-308, and it is a digital temperature controller with dual relay output for heating and cooling1. It is very easy to install and use, and it has a dual display window that shows the measured temperature and the set temperature at the same time1. It also has a buzzer alarm that warns me of high and low temperatures and sensor issues1. I am very happy with this device, as it saved me from having to return or exchange the freezers. It works perfectly and keeps my food fresh and cold. I would highly recommend this device to anyone who has a similar problem with their freezer or fridge. It is a lifesaver!.

Let me start by saying that I work in calibrations for a living and I have dealt with just about every type of temperature controller on the market. I purchased this controller to use on my refrigerator since the internal thermostat had gone bad. Upon receiving this item, the first thing I did was to check the accuracy with a NIST traceable temperature standard. Out of the box this unit was only off by one tenth of one degree Fahrenheit. I almost never see that kind of accuracy in a $35 instrument. The manual is very easy to read and was well translated. The basic setup on my refrigerator only took ten minutes and having observed this controller in operation, it is doing EXACTLY what it is supposed to do. The only advice I have for anyone using this for a refrigerator is to place the temperature probe in a small vial of water. This will more closely approximate the food temperature and will keep the compressor from cycling too often. If you are using it in a freezer, isopropyl alcohol in a sealed vial works very well. In conclusion, this is a great controller at a fantastic price and I highly recommend it.

**UPDATE 3/3/2020**--It has been more than 2 years since I first reviewed this product, and the Inkbird temperature controller is still going strong. We've had zero problems with the unit, and our chest refrigerator is working just fine. My original 5-star rating stands.--I purchased the Inkbird temperature controller to convert a small chest freezer into a chest refrigerator for our off-grid home. I based my purchase on the features (digital readout, compressor delay) and the affordable price point, as well as the reviews.Setup was relatively easy, and the instructions included in the pamphlet are fairly straightforward. I definitely recommend reading the instructions thoroughly.Once the parameters were set, I plugged the freezer into the "cooling" outlet, and the Inkbird did its job. I've only had it for a couple days, so I can't review its longevity. I'll revisit this review in a few weeks and post an update.

This unit works brilliantly. I use it to brew beer. In the winter its mainly used to turn on a brew belt on my fermenter when the temperature drops below a setting. In the spring and fall when temperatures fluctuate it can alternately turn on the brew belt or a cooling element such as a fan or even refigerator used as a fermenting chamber. In the Summer it can just turn on the fridge. It's really easy to use and there is no wiring required - just plug in your heating and cooling devices. I've testing its accuracy again other thermeters and it has always been spot on.

Using for homebrew. Attached to a chest freezer to regulate temps. Easy setup. No re-wiring. Works very well. Keeps temps within the yeast spec. Watched a few videos on how to set the control and got it dialed in. Set it and forget it. For the price, it is a great value.
