I tested 4 check valves before installing them. I simply filled to top with water to see if they worked. Maybe they need more weight to stay shut, but the Jackal valve was the only one that kept shut and leaked no water after an hour. Not loud at all when sealing. My only critique would be the square shape an be a bit tight when mounted next to pump pumps. But it worked for my liberty 287. The old Everbilt check valve failed and caused cycling that destroyed the pump. Therefore a quality check valve pays for itself, and I would probably replace these every 5 years so a decent pump may last 20+ years.

We needed to replace our sump pump and the manufacturer strongly recommended replacing the check valve at the same time, even though our old one was working. You probably have to look long and hard to find a poor check valve because they are all so simple in concept. I looked for the least expensive one I could find that would require the least amount of effort to install. This was the one for me because it was almost an exact duplicate of the current valve. There are less expensive valves (and far more expensive valves) but this one was the practical solution. The old version has worked for years and I expect the same from this one.

Installation was relatively easy. I verified the check valve direction before installing it. However, after installation and a quick check, I noticed a leak from the top of the valve where it connect to the PVC pipe. It continued to leak no matter how much I tighten the clamp. I ended up buying a second clamp to use with the first clamp. This stopped the leak. I added a clamp to the bottom too, just in case.

I just installed it. A few weeks ago and I’ve only seen my pump go on once so I can’t say long-term, but it looks good.

Had to install a new sump pump and replaced the check valve at the same time. Water pumps up about 8 feet then out. Just installed and no drips upon testing (old one dripped right at the valve)

I bought two of these and installed them of two sump pumps sitting next to each other. I have one set to kick on, and the other is set to go if the first pump fails. We had a lot of flooding this winter and the pump was going a lot. These things did great. Since it was a new installtion, I would run one for a while, then switch to the other one. Both these check valves with worked well and were very quite.

When you replace your sump pump, you'll need to replace this valve too more than likely. This device prevents your water from returning back to your pit on your PVC plastic pipes. Good to have also as a backup in the event the current one you have goes bad. The rubber bladder on the device degrades with time so a good idea to change periodically for best practice to back flooding of water to return. Easy to install and replace, as long as you're patient.
