As the name implies, I see this more as a tool to clean existing threads than to cut new ones (in fact that is how the seller markets it in the first place). For cleaning existing threads I'd say it does alright but it wouldn't be my first choice to cut new ones.

If I could still return this I would. Cheap junk. Don't waste your money. Dulled to the point of unusable after just two holes. Worthless junk.

Not the best quality in the machining process as the edges of several cutting threads are rough and have nicks knocked out of them. I’ll mainly be using it to clean up some existing threads of chase new threads into some fittings that have 55 degree BSP threads which don’t match up with USA standard 60 degree threads which is why so many new bath fixtures leak so much when trying to connect one to the other.I guess for a $7 tap, I really can’t complain as the old expression “you get what you pay for†certainly applies here. So if you only need a threading tool for a hand full of tasks, then this may get the job done, but if you’re a serious plumber and need quality tools, look elsewhere. Oh and this is NOT a Straight Thread Tap, it is a taper thread tap which is what the “T†stands for in “NPTâ€.
