I ordered this car battery jumper to use in emergencies. I have some Black + Decker tools that take this style of battery, so I always have some of these batteries charged and ready to go. I tested it with my multi-meter and it read 13.8 volts, which should be more than adequate to start a car. This jumper is really handy for emergencies for three reasons: 1) If there is no power to run a conventional battery charger / starter, you can still jump start your car with this, and once the car is running you can use it to charge and run numerous items. 2) It's compact and portable. This gadget fits in the palm of my hand, even with the battery attached. So you can keep this handy in the car when you go on trips. 3) I already have the batteries, so there is no sense in buying some rechargeable jump starter that includes batteries when I already have perfectly useful batteries on hand. So I will give this item a big five stars! Five stars.

I regularly use a battery jump starter to start up my riding mower (its battery is always dead). The jump starters have worked fine, and I was hoping this would be similar. The idea is nice because I have a bunch of Black and Decker 20v max lithium batteries. Unfortunately, when I hook this up, I'm not able to start the mower, either right away or after waiting for the green light to stop blinking as it charges the mower's onboard battery. This unit does charge the onboard battery somewhat after several minutes, but even if the light is stable green, there is still insufficient charge to turn over the motor. Trying to start the mower right away after hooking it up does absolutely nothing, just a click and that's it. This doesn't appear to have enough cranking amps even for my small riding mower. It's a shame because I really wanted for this to work as it would have been a great convenience. Perhaps this may work if I left it to do a prolonged recharging of the dead battery, but that's not what I needed this for. Alternatively, I found that I'm able to use this in combination with my B&D 20v batteries to directly power my 12v DC backup sump pump. The output is 12v 30 amps, and that seems to work ok with the small backup DC pump.
