Have 3 very different dogs from 2 years - 12 years old, and they all love this interactive feeder. From the more methodical guy who takes his time, to the smash and grab pup, it’s been a hit. Great addition to our collection of interactive feeder toys. Appears very durable and should last a long time. I use strictly for meals and put away so can’t speak to leaving it out, but would be cautious doing that with dogs that like to chew as it wouldn’t last long. Noticed people have said the lid pops off easily. That happened once because I didn’t make sure it was locked in. It’s more of a push down and short twist and lock top, vs. screw on or snap down if that makes sense. If you don’t lock, it won’t stay on. Only complaint is that it slides all over very easily. It’s clearly presented as non-skid which was one of the reasons I got it. Nope. Even the gentle pup has it all over the place, and other two - well it becomes a hockey puck. LOL

When it does work, the feeder definitely slows my dog down since it requires several steps to get to the food—mission accomplished there! I like that I can fit a fair amount of food in here. If I really try to fit a full serving in, it can hold (just barely) 2 cups in the top bowl and all the little compartments. Bigger pieces of kibble, like the Hills Science Large Breed Puppy Lamb & Rice kibble, also fit through the openings when pressed. The downsides of this product are many.First, the pieces covering each small compartment are cheaply made and attached. My dog can easily pull it off and this defeats the purpose of the slow feeder since it removes a step from the process that slows my dog down. It’s also a safety hazard since the pieces are small and medium to large dogs can swallow it.The top piece also is cheaply made and has a poor latching mechanism. The latch eventually loosens after being pressed a couple times by a dog and the bowl falls off, allowing my dog access to the large chamber of kibble, which again defeats the purpose since at this point it’s just a bowl of food. The top needs to be more securely attached and locked in, possibly with more threads like a jar instead of just a little notch on both sides that goes into the bottom piece. Finally, the bottom needs to have more weight and better grips. The feeder is constantly sliding around whether I put it on hardwood flooring or a rug. Part of this can be mitigated if the bottom was heavier. Bigger dogs (my dog is 100 pounds) can topple it over even with simple pawing. My dog has toppled it over several times and the top mechanism just falls right off and food gets all over the floor.

I purchased this for my lab because he basically swallows his food whole. I wanted to slow down his eating. I see great potential for this product for other dogs that are not so food obsessed as mine. My dog figured out where the food comes out of the holes into the covered little boxes. He licks each hole to try to pull the food out. It has slowed his eating a little bit. I would say that's a win. But we have ceramic floors and the base slides all over the floor. My dog ultimately flips it over and food spills everywhere. I wish the lid would screw on more securely. My dog figured out how to unscrew it to get the food out. Even with all the abuse my dog gives this product. It's pretty sturdy. My dog is obsessed with this product. It ends up a complete slobbered mess. When it comes to cleaning it I have to make sure water drains well before I put it out to dry. So that's a bit of a hassle as it does not completely come apart for cleaning. I would get it if your dog were not as food aggressive as mine. I am still working on training him with this product. I am hopeful that he calms down and it slows his eating down.
