At least we’ll look like we know what we are doing! Can wait to snag a Piper or small Cessna with our 2200’ of line! Haven’t used yet, can’t wait. I hear those Pipers give a good struggle.

I think this is one of the biggest reels on amazon and its awesome. It has a tangle resitance ring and is a great value for the money considering othes are only $5 or so cheaper. It assembles easy with just attaching the red handle for reeling. The playstic is super strong and the whole thing is on ballbearings and spools real nice; Its real easy to reel in or unreel a big beautiful kite.

[Update]My concern about the steel ferrule seems to have been misplaced - I flew this monster 26-foot-long octopus (see pic) last weekend using this reel, it's a very hard puller and I let it get quite high, and the line hasn't suffered any abrasion that I can see. The multi-position latch held firm every time I used it and the brake worked perfectly as well. This is a great reel.[Original Review]I have several kite reels and this quickly became my favorite. The brake is effective, and the reel fits my hand well. It's got 4/10's of a mile of line so I don't imagine I'll see the end any time soon. The grips are comfortable for my larger-than-average hands, and the gloves, while very thing, fit ok and do provide decent protection from line burns. I also like that the reel lock can engage at any position around the wheel.The ferrule is my only concern - it only has smoothed metal around the line rather than a hard plastic torus, and I'm unsure if the line will incur more wear that way. I'll come back and update this review if that happens,In the meantime I'm very pleased with this reel, it's a good durable product and I'm happy to have it.

Item arrived broken as you can see in the pictures, a break right through wheel which was very disappointing because I was ready to get this out and use with my sons Kite the day it arrived. I will attempt to fix this with some sort of glue or adhesive and hopefully get it to work.Aside from the damage, the quality seems to be nothing short of amazing! The wheel spins freely with no problems, the string is strong and bright yellow, the handles feel great in your hands, the break system is a major plus and seems to work good as I just tied it off to a pole and started walking with it and used the break because well, it's broken and didn't want to attempt using it on my sons kite.Should this not have come broken, I would only imagine having had alot more good things to say, and probably would be some of the best value for your money for something like this.

Not tested yet due to lack of wind but I got this reel and I have to say the quality feels great. I have a 7ft kite and I recently flown it 600 ft. , with this reel coming at 2k + feet of line I'm really excited to fly this high. The handle has a weird flow to it so I definitely recommend wearing gloves. Very cool locking mechanisms.The two small buttons on the side of the handle hold and release to wheel to freely spin. The long thumb lever is the breaking system, pretty neat, that part feels a little weak but I'll update once used.

Kite real is very nice quality. Works very well. Comes with gloves. Bearing spin very nicely and wraps great. Very comfortable to hold even for larger man hands. Using a real like this is easier to hold the kite without loosing grip in wind bursts. Reel helps prevent cut and burns from the rope that can be caused by other reel types. Holds huge length of rope to where you probably would be in us airspace!!!
