Set the Current Time
Set the current time by turning the dial clock-wise until the arrow points at your current time.
Press/Lift the pins to set programs
Press down the pins for the time range when you want the timer to turn on. Leave the pins up for time range that you want the timer to stay off.

I use these on my aquarium lights and so far they are keeping time and doing the job well. Inexpensive and lets me relax while on vacation, knowing my salt water fish are getting adequate lighting.

It works, but needs adjustment every few days because it runs slow. Over time it will be totally off if I ignore it.

These were perfect since I needed 2 power strips with 3 prong electrical outlets to automatically turn on and off at the same time for my Christmas Department 56 display. The timers I owned could only handle 2 prong outlets. I ordered these, and they worked perfectly. Then I found other uses for them, and so I ordered another set. They work well, they are easy to use, and I'd highly recommend them for their versatility and great value.

I use these to start and stop lots of electrical stuff. I have an electric plan that is free at night so I set these to run battery maintenance chargers at night. Also use to run electric heaters in the winter at night in my shop and well houses. Great for lights also. I like these.

UPDATE: DO NOT BUY or USE!!!Thank goodness I happened to be downstairs and caught an electrical burning smell! I lost my home to fire years ago, so this was terrifying. See Photo.The first one of these broke after a couple of months. The second one then failed epically. Scary!Old review:I purchased these to stop a water distiller from running dry, so I'm setting the timer for 3.5 hours because that's just right to get maximum output without draining the tank completely.You set the on/off time(s) by pushing down however many half hour widgets you want the device to turn on for, but the widgets are really easy to accidentally depress while plugging everything in. It's also really hard to line up the time on dial with the depressed widgets if you're using it like I am, where I want to set it for 3.5 hours and start it immediately. The widgets are hard to press down when the time dial is near the widget you want depressed to turn on power to the device. It's also difficult to set the time dial with much precision, so if I press down the widgets first then spin the time dial to line up with the depressed widgets I often wind up having to turn it far enough into the time covered by a depressed widget that the amount of time the device runs isn't consistent/accurate/what I wanted. (It might run for 3 hrs 25 mins...or 3 hrs 15 mins....etc., which winds up wasting power because every time I run the distiller it has to heat up.) Also, because I'm using the timers with a distiller, I'm filling the machine with warm water. If the timer does turn on power to the unit within a few minutes of my setting everything up to run, the water is cooling...which also wastes power.I bought these timers on the recommendation of others who are distilling water the way I am, so I've been incredibly underwhelmed. It's too late to return them, but I'm definitely looking into other brands/options.The timers would probably be fine if you're using them for something like having lights come on while you're on vacation, if you don't need appliances to come on or turn off at exact times, or if you're ok with setting the timer then letting everything sit for 20 minutes before the appliance comes on.

They arrived in fine shape. I picked one of them to control a light. I picked the wrong one. The timer dial didn't turn, and the light didn't come on. Zero stars for that one. (I plugged it into another outlet, and alas, it still didn't work.)I tested the other timer and it worked fine. 5 stars for that one. So it averaged out to 2.5 stars...Maybe the manufacturer or Amazon will send me a replacement for the bad one.EDIT: I took the timer apart to have a look inside, and I discovered one of the power wires to the motor was not connected. Ithad solder on the wire and the tab the wire went to, but the wire was not attached. 30seconds with my soldering pencil fixed theconnection and after a complete horror show of a time getting it reassembled, itnow works fine.I raise my rating to 3 stars. Quality Control needs a bit of work, for sure.
