Now I can easily paint the trim on my house. I've painted several houses through the years. But now at 70 years old, standing on top of the extension ladder feels different. A little unsteady. This ladder stabilizer works great. Feels much more secure. And easier to paint trim, as it allows ladder to stand away, so I don't have to lean out. The product is well constructed, and easily assembled. Good powder-coat finish. The hardware supplied work well, even the nuts. I did add washers to protect finish. The only negative would be the rubber feet. Like most imported rubber, it marks the side of house. The marks will clean off. The positives way out number the one negative. I'd buy it again. $$ well spent!!

The principle is sound and the stabilizer works -- but I questioned its components and improved on them to make sure 1) I'm on a sound ladder, and 2) that the metal doesn't rust or crunch prematurely. The fix is easy: I added wide flat washers on both ends of each bolt so that the head and nut wouldn't press into the metal; I found some loose bolts in my workshop that were a little longer to accommodate the washers; and I used lock nuts instead of the standard smooth nuts so I could achieve the adequate tension without crimping the nuts and bolt head into the soft metal. That's why four stars -- you have to improve on their hardware to make sure their well-intended product will be safe and lasting.

The stabilizer seems well made but be aware that it can break. My employee was on the ladder and the stabilizer broke at the weld. Thankfully, nobody was hurt but we were very close to a disaster.

Took me a while to figure out how best to attach the unit. The diagram shows how to assemble the unit but nothing to show how best to attach to the ladder. Once attached, it provides a very stable top assembly to stabilise the ladder at the roof. Happy that it makes the ladder safer for me to use when cleaning gutters.
