I’m dubbing this 6x6 round bale hay net the Big Green Monster. After struggling with getting 5x5 nets around my orchard alfalfa rolls, it’s nice to have a big net that practically slides around a bale. The holes are well spaced and strong, with no areas giving me any concern about the threads turning into horsey dental floss. In fact, I like them better than the ones on the higher price well known brand that rhymes with “bay bricks†that I also have. In a side by side, Big Green here is easier to work with and easier for horses to eat out of without being too easy to yank the hay out. It is not the repurposed thin hockey goal netting some big nets use to be as cheap as possible. This one seems to understand what horses put a net through. The net has strong seams, comes with a handy repair kit should you need it, and should fit any 6x6 round, or even a large square bale nicely. I am using it in my hay hut, and the horses look quite content with it.If I’ve a con to mention, it’s the drawstring. It’s a simple green plastic nylon rope. On the plus size, this should be super easy and inexpensive to swap out for a cotton rope down the road. It’s not enough to pull my rating down from a solid 4.5, so it rounds up to be a product worth having if you want to save money on your hay bill, but don’t want to buy one of the more expensive models out on the market.

This is an ex-large bale net for use in a pasture. We keep horses and some of them like to pull hay out of the feeder. We just can't afford the waste. We've used another well known bale net for years and wanted to try a less expensive option. The ad states that the bale net is for round bales up to 6X6 or square bales up to 5x5x8. Our bales are 4x5 and there is a lot of room. Once the net was over the bale and we pull the drawstring. We used the included tool to weave the excess rope through the net to get it out of the way. In the winter months, any extra material will get froze to the ground pretty easily. The kit came with some excess rope, a weaving tool, and some zip ties. There are no directions so if you purchase, you'll need to play with it until you have it figured out. I recommend doing that somewhere other than the field. I think this will do the job pretty well. I'll send an update if we see any major issues over the next few months. The net we received was a bright green color rather than the dark gray color portrayed in the photos.

This hay net was very easy to put on the round bale. I picked the largest size net and I am feeding 5x5 round bales. It was very easy to put the netting over the round bale and there was a rope weaved in around the opening so you could putt it to secure the bottom. We have a tractor so we just picked it up and secured it completely underneath. There was extra space, as expected, since it can fit up to 6x6 round bales. There were no instructions but a quick google and we found what we needed to get started. It does come with extra string in case of breakage and some zip ties. The netting string is thick and will hopefully hold up well. Not sure how the horses feel about it as they wont be able to make the holes in the middle and it will slow them down a little! So far the quality looks great. If there are any changes I will come update my review.

very pleased. There is room to spare when used on a 5x4' bale. Should easily fit a 6' bale. Really cuts down on wasted hay. Using for sheep and a donkey.
