I bought two mid-sized glass mats and one of the largest size. So far this has been a fantastic chair mat for me, but I do have two warnings. If you're buying the 60x48 especially I strongly suggest reading.1) There are not enough bumpers included in the package! There are 8 regardless of the size. I think this is fine for the mid-sized (50x44) mat provided you space them well. See my picture for my recommended spacing on the 50x44. The outside dots start at about 1 inch in, and the inside dots at about 6 inches. It feels good, but that is for the mid-sized at. I could not find a way to space them evenly on the large mat without disconcerting creaking noises. For the larger mat I STRONGLY recommend buying some rubber bumpers beforehand and tossing the included bumpers. I bought some after the fact that work a lot better and are even more transparent so I can show off my floor, however I had to waste a lot of time scrubbing adhesive residue off. You will NOT be able to find the same bumpers, and it's nearly impossible to find something with the same height.2) These are heavy, and I wouldn't recommend most people try to move them alone. As a very large and fairly strong person I can manage, but laying them down softly is still a bit of a challenge and I recommend two people, especially for anything above the small size. All told I paid just a little less for plastic mats at my office, and we will be switching to these as soon as those wear out and die in a couple years if the price is still right. I suspect these will last much longer if the glass is actually tempered. I will update the review if these prove to not be very durable, but I do love their sturdiness and the smooth glide I get with the chair.

This glass mat is very nice, certainly a big upgrade to the plastic ones I've always had. I have this mat on fairly plush carpet with thick padding underneath. The mat is heavy enough that it SEEMS like it can't go anywhere except if you kick it or move it on purpose. But apparently it does move a little over time on its own, but I haven't figured out how or why. I was worried that my chair wouldn't be able to stay in one place, but turns out it stays in place just fine, the bonus being that it takes much less effort than before to roll the chair around when you want to (my chair would sink down into plastic mats). This mat doesn't have a fancy bevel edge, but I think I made a good call not to spend the extra $$ for that feature.

After lots of research, I landed on a tempered glass chair mat for my home office with high pile carpet. All of the TPU and wood options I was looking at were marketed for low-medium pile carpet but I didn’t want to chance it with how thick my carpet is. This thing rocks! Super sturdy and it didn’t even need the rubber pads to stay in place. The smaller models may be more prone to shifting but the larger one I have is staying in place no problem. Arrived fast, and in perfect condition. Definitely a bit anxiety inducing standing and sitting on a giant pane of glass but this thing feels sturdy and built to last. Glad I don’t have to worry about it wearing out over time or warping like the plastic options either. Well worth the money.

Item arrived in perfect condition (even with slightly beat up box), shipper called to set delivery appointment window. We had ordered this product from a different retailer and it never arrived after ordering twice, so we were relieved it arrived on time in one piece. Largest size was definitely needed for our desk to have room to slide backwards. My husband was concerned that he'd roll off of it too easily but it slides perfectly with his desk chair and he does not go off the edge. It's interesting to walk on glass at first but very nice that it doesn't dent in like a traditional chair mat.

As many others have said in other reviews, I should have picked one of these up long ago. That being said, all along I was put off by the high prices that many companies demand for these. Somehow, Lorell has come up with the right balance of quality for the price, this a VERY nice mat.A couple years ago I picked up some of the roller blade style wheels for my home office chair and they are great with one exception, they direct the weight to a center point (being a single wheel) more so than the cheap plastic wheels that come on most chairs do as each of those wheels is usually 2 wheels side by side. The issue I have is I am on high pile carpet and my sturdy poly mat I purchased at Costco in 09' started really sinking in the areas where the 5 wheels were sitting. Eventually the indentions became permanent and I was constantly trapped in the 5 divots. The price was right and it was time to try a glass mat.WOW, this Lorell mat is beautiful. As others stated, it's heavy so be prepared to have an extra set of hands to safely move this when you first receive it. Delivery was FAST!! I do not have Prime but the mat was delivered in 1 business day. It was packed pretty well with styrofoam around the edges, the box had a bit of damage to a corner but there are reinforced cardboard corner inserts inside the box so all was good. After a quick wipe down with glass cleaner on both sides (not required, it was pretty smudge free) and putting it in place I finally am able to roll around to any spot on this mat without having to reach for something to pull myself out of the divots and I feel FREE!!!As for the minor details, the edges are nicely rounded all around, no sharp edges. The glass is crystal clear, I know some of the pricier brands make you pay for a better quality of clarity. Maybe those are slightly clearer although I wouldn't notice the difference as this Lorell mat looks wonderful. Others mentioned they wish they went with the larger size from what they picked, I opted for the 50"/44" instead of the smaller version and already am happy I did despite it being twice the price at the time, I'd have went for the 60" if I had the space. After looking around online I saw a cool suggestion about placing a design pattern (i.e a picture/grass/nature/exotic wood design/company logo) under the mat as again, the mat is crystal clear so the customization options are endless with this and you could always change it up as often as you'd like which I thought was really cool.In summary, what are you waiting for? Stop looking elsewhere, Lorell has your beautiful new chair mat right here, you'll be very happy you made the upgrade!

Tempered glass chair mat is a more permanent alternative to acrylic plastic which wears quickly. More expensive but worth it.

I am a big guy (220 lbs) and I was really scared to put my full weight on this when I got it. You can feel the glass flex under my weight and I swore it was going to shatter. I have had it a few months now and it is working fine so I cannot complain (except for the price). It does slide a bit on my carpet so every week or two I have to straighten it out.
