Top notch product! Ordered security cameras as well and they all work well together.

Took a little bit to hook it up to existing cameras. The former owner took her box when she sold (against the contract) and I was afraid it would never work I was able to hook up the camera, had to buy a doorbell and chime but they were fairly easy also,

I got this product to replace an existing nvr/dvr. It came brand new from Lorex but required a login that I didn’t have. I had to make several phone calls to Lorex. The last phone took about 40 minutes and after several login attempts they finally got me connected to it. I feel it should have been this hard to get started. Product does seem to work well for now.

I own a Ring PoE doorbell camera that is a total piece of crap. I regret buying it and will never buy another Ring product again.I bought this with some Lorex LNB8111 cameras and the good things are:* It actually works with the mobile app. If I want to look at my cameras or get motion alerts, the app connects and works. With Ring, the thing connects to the device *most of the time* when no one is there. When someone rings the bell or triggers the motion detect on the Ring device, the mobile app doesn't connect. The Lorex app has no issue, so a big plus here. (I have not tried the Lorex doorbell, I am hooking that up and will update the review when I have more info - I expect it to work based on how things have worked so far.)* The NVR connecting to the cameras is pretty easy. Even if you have no networking knowledge, you should be able to get this working. Now, for the bad parts:* If you look at the compatibility chart for this NVR, the LNB8111 is listed. What you have to realize is that all the features on the NVR are based on camera capabilities and not really based on a compatible camera. I found out that the LNB8111 is "compatible" for some definition of compatible - I can record video, get motion detection alerts, use the mobile app....but I can't use their advanced features because these are not supported by the LNB8111. I wish I would have known that, it is completely unclear and misleading to label a device compatible then to find out it is only compatible with certain features.* I have the cameras monitoring outdoor so I don't much care about the privacy of anyone viewing the video. To make the mobile app work, you have to use the P2P mode. This makes your NVR device reach out to the Lorex servers so that you don't have to do a complex network setup (like a pinhole with DDNS) to get it working. The downside of this is that you have to enter the admin password for the NVR in the app (it ONLY uses the admin account, there is NO WAY to enter another user account name or password in the mobile app). This means that when you connect to your video streams, your mobile app is using the Lorex servers as a go-between to talk to your NVR device. This also means Lorex can log in to your NVR and do whatever they want (wipe your config, perform a software upgrade, brick your box, or run software on the NVR device that does things you don't want, etc). They can also monitor your video streams....maybe it is not bad to have a Chinese company able to monitor your dog doing their business in the backyard since they are not likely to feed the streams to US authorities without a warrant (several news stories indicate Ring is feeding video to police without warrant, and it is really unclear if this is being done for real or not).* So let's say you don't want to use the mobile app and don't care about getting motion alerts pushed to your phone. You could do a DDNS and pinhole (or something similar) to enable connecting to your device on your mobile via the NVR's web UI. The web UI works well, and it does have an option to enable SSL to encrypt your communication. The problem is there is no way to provide your own SSL certificate. This means that Lorex controls the private key and ANYONE looking at your stream that is in possession of this certificate private key. This seems a bit sketchy as usually this is done so that someone can monitor activity as a Man-in-the-Middle. Not providing your own cert also makes it impossible for the SAN or Subject to match your systems FQDN name, so you'll always get a site warning on the browser. So it works but I definitely would not use this if you wanted to monitor a location where video streams could expose embarrassing or personally identifiable videos or still shots. It is totally open for observation by anyone Lorex allows. In my home network, the devices are isolated from our other devices just in case someone gets in to the NVR and is able to execute malware. This is a little concerning as well given the Lorex mobile app forces you to expose the administrator password. It is possible the administrator password enables undocumented features that could turn the NVR into a device that attacks other devices on your network or snoops on your unencrypted traffic.

it does not work with google display. I spent over an hour on tech support and they couldn't figure out what the problem is. They blamed the issue on Google. But after doing some research , people who bought this model all have the same issue. if you plan to buy this to stream via Google display, you will be disappointed! it just dont work nothing will stream on google display. also the lorex app only allow one user login at a time. if you attempt to login you will kick the other user off!

I ordered this Lorex NVR on Oct. 19 2023, received one week later with a defect product. manufactured 3 years ago, seller wanted me to go through warranty process and I called 800 number 3 times and was told the product power adapter doesn’t match the NVR and won’t qualify. Got refund 11 dollar less than I paid for.
