When I went to Amazon to look for a jeweler's loupe, I was not expecting the minefield of apparent lies and disappointment that many product reviewers bemoaned. After over an hour of research, I picked out this one and was very impressed with what I received. The lens was clean, the hinge tight, the lights work and are bright and convenient, the magnification great for my needs, and it comes with a little key to open the battery compartment, a manual, and a sturdy, if fairly basic, plastic storage case with molded insert to securely fasten the loupe. I purchased the loupe to help verify the authenticity of an old expensive Magic card I had purchased on eBay that's often counterfeited, and it was perfect for this use (the card was real, for those curious).

It's great--I own several of this type of illuminated loupe, and this one is the best and most solid. All metal, really durable construction. I like that it has 2 LEDs, so it's very bright. The only complaint I have is that it's not smaller. I was hoping for something that would fit in my pocket, but this is a little too much bulk for that. I guess I should have read the specs better.

Nice Loupe, nice LED light that really works. 20x is a plus that I now need instead of the 10x. A must for any rock hound or gem freak like us. Comes in handy while on the hunt...check us out at creativerockhunters.com. Will buy more for the pocket, inside the car etc.

Good quality for the price. Complete package includes cleaning cloth and storage. Really impressed with the quality of the magnification.

Nice at first but now the LED only works a little if you can shake it into the perfect position. I am not sure why its so loose now. I have put new batteries in it twice with no issues. I will be replacing this with something of higher quality. I have had my other loupe for more than 2 years with no problems. These are just not made to last very long. Loupe glass quality is fine my only issue is the LED.

I've bought and sold both coins and silverware for over 20 years now and I have extensive experience with loupe optics. For around $15, this is absolutely the one you want. It works great. The field of vision is normal for the 20x I received. It's all metal and glass. The LEDs are a nice feature although I didn't really need them. Highly recommended.

the hand lens came detached after one semester worth of minimal and light use, but could be fixed with a small screwdriver

You could take this little thing camping and into the woods to have a pee at night if you wanted that's how good the little light is. Great mag and good quality. Well worth the money. You will have for a lifetime.

Works well but the screw at the hinge falls out after a few months use, the lens frame too - undoubtedly somewhere in a field where the small parts are impossible to find. I’ve had lots over the years and have now invested in a Lichen Candelaris instead. I’d recommend quality over quantity if you’re serious about botany (or whatever else you use a lens for)
