This is a very complete set. You can make bindings from your own fabrics to get unique garments or items. Having 5 sizes is very handy, although you will find your favorites. Follow the instructions to make the double fold binding, and either apply it with the included foot, or apply one side first with your regular foot, stitching on one of the side fold lines, then press and fold over your edge, then complete either by hand or with the machine, depending on what effect you want.You will want to cut your strips 4x the finished width, and on the bias, unless you have a stretch knit. In that case, you may cut on the crosswise grain, or the grain with the most stretch.It may seem fiddly and a lot of work to make you own bias binding when you can purchase bias binding ready made. Once you begin making your own, you will realize that you have the ability to have any kind or color binding you like. Print, matching, contrasting, textured fabric, etc. There's no end to what you can do. It's best to begin with plain weave cotton fabric, but then you can branch out.

I decided to give this bias tape maker a try because other reviewers had success with it. That, and binding that matches the project exactly looks so much nicer than using plain bias tape.The kit is made of high quality materials. I liked that the components came in a sturdy plastic case. The first thing I did was read the short instructions. They were well written, but I felt that two-inch strips would be too small, when folded in half twice.I continued anyway. The process was simple enough. Fold the free end of the strip in half and pin it to the ironing board. I did that and realized that I need to re-pad my aging ironing board.The instructions said to press slowly, but the fabric and the ironing board surface was getting way too hot. I wound up removing the metal apparatus, waiting a couple of minutes for everything to cool down and pressed everything the old-fashioned way, which was a pain. I now have a new reason for hating bias tape.I will try this again, once I re-pad my ironing board, because the old-fashioned way didn't work out the way I'd hoped, which is another reason why I decided to get this kit. I knocked off a star because the pins are cheaply made. You're better off using your own pins.

It's great in theory, but in actuality it doesn't work. I still had to iron my tape because I couldn't pull it out.

First off this set is great because it has a storage case so you have all the pieces together so you don't have to search for the pieces when you're ready to make some bias tape. It comes with a set of instructions which is helpful in using it for the first time.I've always made bias tape by hand before and this kit was really nice because it will keep both sides evenly folded.I used some scrap fabric to play around with it first. Once I got the hang of it it was really easy to use.This is definitely a must have if you ever need to make bias tape.

I like that it came in it’s own storage kit with a specific place for each item. It is made with some metal parts and it’s easy to use with complete written instructions. It's definitely is quick and easy to use. In fact, it took me much longer to cut the fabric than to make the bias tape (which was really quick). It's nice to be able to make my own bias tape so that I can match or contrast the trim. It included everything you need for making bias tape and a low shank foot for sewing plus instructions. I was very satisfied with this product.

I've used bias tape makers before, and using these is just like any other. I really like that this set came with the plastic snap case, that's really handy because I have definitely lost my previous bias tape makers in my sewing room. I also liked that the set came with basic instructions for people who haven't used them before. The awl that is included is super useful when you are starting your tape, and I like that they included a presser foot with the ruler right on it.My one note is that the pins that are included aren't very sharp so I don't use them. Other than that, this is a really nice little set and I think I'll get a lot of use out of it.

I have been sewing all my life and making my own bias tape for years but never had anything like this to help me and I have to say it’s a must-have item if you’re making bias tape! I have already made 60 yards of various colors just to have on hand for my sewing projects. I just covered my old, worn out pot holders with scraps of fabric and used the bias trim I made with this kit! I love this product!
