I was skeptical. I ordered this unit and another brand 3 times the price. After using both I can honestly say I like this one better. It is smooth and easy to adjust. I use it to mount a rifle on a tripod. The rifle I put on it was offset and weight about 17lbs. The unit held it steady with no problems at all. I am just so surprised how smooth everything is.

Works great to support my hunting and sporting rifles. It looks very similar to other “name brand†tripod ball head mounts. Holds a couple of my large platform semi-auto 308 & 6.5CM rifles very well. I don’t remember the name of the tripod base I mounted this on but I built a $350 arca tripod that compares to some other $1000 plus tripods.

This Weyllan ball head was a big surprise both from a size and functional point of view. It is bigger than I expected and a smaller one would probably have been enough for my 200-600mm but I decided to keep it anyway as I particularly liked the shapes and the sizes of the locking screws. Once it is tightened the ball will not move. Very impressive. Highly recommended.

I own several tripods and ball heads, but recently started photographing more wildlife and birds with a big telephoto lenses. The combined weight of the camera and lens did not work well with my existing (and expensive) ball heads; often I would focus and lock on a subject, tighten the control knob, release and then have the lens/camera sag and de-center the image. I needed something more robust.I did look at high end ball heads but their cost seemed excessive. The Weyllan 55mm heavy duty, low profile unit seemed like a very good value, so I ordered it.It arrived on time, well-packed and boxed. I attached the unit to my heavy duty tripod and mounted my camera/telephoto lens and took it outside to photograph some goldfinches. The ball head did not move once I locked in on the subject. It held its position. I was quite pleased.The movements are smooth, particularly the pan base. If you want super-smooth ball movement you will need to look at units considerably more expensive.I did have a minor problem with the small fine-tuning/tension knob and contacted the seller. They responded to my email in less than 24 hours and suggested a fix (some of the issue was me - operator error). It worked and the unit is now my go-to ball head for serious work. Highly recommended.

Build quality all steel locking knobs ease of movement and as good if not better than ball heads three and four times the cost.It has a weight bearing load of Forty kg fantastic value for money I highly recommend this wonderful ball head.

Bereits beim auspacken merkt man sofort, daß man ein sehr wertiges Produkt in der Hand hat. Niedrig, breit, massiv, so vermittelt der Kugelkopf seine Werte. Seinen ersten Test bestand er bravorös. Alles läuft spielfrei, die Fertigungsqualität ist allererste Sahne. Das versprochene 40kg Last- Haltevermögen glaubt man sofort. Auch wenn man Anfangs möglicherweise der Meinung ist, für die Fotoausrüstung sei die Leistung übertrieben, etwas kleiner reicht doch auch, kann ich ganz klar sagen: Nö! Mein bevorzugtes Equipment z.B. wiegt knapp 6kg. Alles hält Bombenfest, es ist einfach ein Genuß damit zu arbeiten. Machen Sie den Test: Befestigen sie ihr Tele + Kamera und gucken durch den Sucher. Dann tippen sie das Objektiv an. Die Zitterbewegungen sind sehr deutlich zu sehen. Es muß innerhalb von ca. 3 Sek. aufhören, sonst ist der verwendete Kopf ohnehin untauglich. Der Weyllankopf bewegt sich überhaupt nicht, man hat den Eindruck, da könnte man auch einen Ziegelstein draufwerfen und nichts bewegt sich. Diese Qualität war mir bislang nur von den E 400-- (und mehr) Köpfen der Spitzenhersteller bekannt. Ärgerlich, daß ich diesen Kugelkopf nicht schon viel früher gekauft habe. Kann ich nur jedem Fotokollegen empfehlen, zumal der Preis mehr als ok ist.Nachtrag, 23.11.2024: In der Praxis hat sich gezeigt, daß die massiven Alu-Einstellräder nicht nur gut aussehen sondern auch äußerst präzise arbeiten und sich sehr "handsymphatisch" anfühlen. Sehr angenehm bei längeren Fotostrecken.
