LS Valve Spring Compressor Tool

Installation steps:

  1. First remove the valve cover, remove the rocker arm and rocker arm guide.
  2. Place the Bottom Aluminum plate on the head where the rocker bolts mounted and place the middle section on top that has the stud and mount it to the head with the 2 supplied bolts make sure the tool is setting in the middle between the 2 valve springs. Hand Tighten using a ratchet and socket. Do not Over tighten you can cause damage to the head if you use a impact.
  3. Place the top over the 2 valve springs and install supplied nut. Make sure the stud has grease on it.
  4. If you are using the head on an engine mounted head, then you will want to use a fitting of compressed air in the spark plug hole to keep the valve pushed close before tightening.
  5. Do not use impact as this will cause the nut to overheat and strip the threads! , only tighten the nut manually and slowly.
  6. To keep them from falling into the head, after compressing the spring, you can use a magnet to remove the valve retainer. After removing the retainer, you need to slowly reverse the nut to release the pressure and remove the spring.
  7. Install the new springs using the same procedure. Make sure when reinstalling the valve keepers that you get them in place so they will hold properly before releasing the pressure.

I work as a fleet mechanic I had a La valve spring to do and I needed this overnight. 7am drop off wasn’t dropped off till 10am and when I got it it came with no hardware to even use the tool. I had to go to local hardware store and match each piece of hardware needed. Not easy to use. And don’t come complete. Buy from actual tool store. I’d give it a zero if u could. Waste of time. And out me behind at work.

WARNING DO NOT PURCHASE THIS PART. It looks good in the pictures but that’s not how it looks when put together. The threading is horrible and even when I finally got the bolt through it was so crooked there was no possibility that this tool would work for valve springs on my 2000 Chevy Silverado. I hate giving up so I still tried it anyways and now the threading for my push rod is stripped out as well . This is going to cost me way more than the time and money I spent on this part … you’ve been warned!!!!!,

For the price it was really good but you have to be very careful with the hardware. It is not built to be torqued. It will strip just take it nice and slow!

First off the bolts are very weak, then the bolt hole for the bracket was tapped incorrectly and off the the side . So the bracket dose not even fit one the springs . And when I drilled and tapped out the threads straight it worked but shouldn’t have to do that on a tool I just bought. Just in the time it took in fixing the incorrect machined bracket . I could have bought the more expensive one and work properly every time

Using a normal box wrench, the hardware stripped out before i could even replace one set of springs. Save your money and find something better. These were stock LS springs.....If you are looking to install springs, buy this tool, i did 8 springs in about 25 minutes with no brain damagehttps://www.amazon.com/dp/B08HS2RC86
