INSTALLATION STEPS

Install the micrometer to the spring seat

Install the spring retainer and keepers

Tighten the micrometer

Read the date
Kindly Noted:
The calculated installation height does not include the thickness of the retainer, which is considered in the compression spring.
When the spring is installed at the correct height, it will show higher.

Last one grew legs and walked away. Finite threads, indexed correctly and appears to be a tool to last for years not minutes. Functions very well and a great value for this tool. Friend tells me that doesn't make any difference. It ran before you resurfaced the valves and seats. What a gomer. Measure and shim. This tool is very easy to use.

The micrometer does not fit an LT4 Camaro head. The knurling on the bottom part of the mic rubs against the head casting. I had to use a grinder to grind down the knurling so that it would sit flat on the spring locator. The top hole is also way too wide to fit the retainer so it has to sit in the bottom part of the cup. So you have to subtract some from the final measurement. Based on my measurements it appears to measure around 0.125" lower when using the lower step, so just subtract 0.125" from the final measurement.This product may be good enough when doing a single set of heads. If using it more than a few times I would get a better made one.

For the price it’s a back up I can keep it at home in my toolbox and I know it’s dead perfect like the expensive ones
