This is a quality on/off 3-speed ceiling fan switch. No hum and the 3 fan speeds work great. What I really like about this is the slider at the bottom setting is "Off" and the first level up is "Low" speed, not "High" speed first like on many other switches. Next up setting is "Medium" and then the top highest setting is "High" speed, where it belongs. Yep. Thank you, Lutron!Someone mentioned in a review that you can't have two of these switches next to each other because of the metal fins on the side crowding the space not allowing them to fit in a two-hole cover. Not so. They WILL fit. The metal fins are creased so you can easily bend them with pliers and break 3 of them on one side or all 6 on both sides off clean.

Pull chains on ceiling fans are clumsy and prone to break as well as the difficulty smaller people have in reaching the chain. When first installing, you put the fan in the highest speed using the pull chain and leave it in that position. Then you use the fan speed control to switch from high, medium, low, and off. This works with most 3 speed ceiling fans, but will not work with ones that use remotes. Bear in mind that this only works for the fan, not the light, so if your fan has a light kit, you could only use this if you have 2 switch legs, one for the fan and one for the light.

Very simple to install if you have basic eletrical knowledge/common sense and DIY skills.Bought this for manual fan control instead of pulling on the fan chains for a celling fan.Installed it with 12/3 wire since I was rebuilding an area in my home . Used red for the motor to the fan and controls all settings. Will recommend everyone to buy it if you want to control a celling fan manually without pulling chain

Didn't need it for the fan as it is remote controlled. W kept it incase we lost the remote. Then we can wire in the switch.

I wished it came in variable speed other than a 3 speed and the color was a little lighter than my previous model. The switch itself works fine.
