Lutron email support could only recommend me: SFS-5E since it was the only one that supports multiple fans.I have 3 of the Hampton Bay Model #52869 connected in parallel and this switch worked well and there was no humming sound unlike what others said luckily. Its retail price was about $35. I recommend this wall switch.It came with 4 wires, the extra wire was for the light but I didn't use it because my fans didn't have light.Also, my fans do not have a cord or are remote controlled. They solely depend on the switch for speed selection

Works just as expected. I am able to control three outdoor patio fans tied to this one switch. Only noted problem as stated by others, when on the lowest speed the fans let out a humming sound. Most times though, our fans are set to high when needed (rarely run the low setting) so its not a big problem for us.

Huge humming noise created by the speed control even working with a solid fan . I’m very upset that I can’t return it because I’m a day over. This is ridiculous. Try to install it in the customers home. I’ll get to the house. I can’t return it because it’s broken so I just threw all this money out the window.

Installed three outdoor fans on new patio. Switch was easy to install( good wiring diagram on instructions) and handles fans load well. so far so good.

I have installed their standard 3 speed fan wall controls and they work well. They do not make a 4 speed control so I tried this variable speed model. Other reviewers mentioned the humming sound that this control created in the fan motor when used for multiple fans. My hope was that this would not be the case on a single fan. But this variable speed control causes the same extremely annoying noise on just one fan application. Very disappointing. Only positive is as usual the excellent easy return with Amazon.

I have this hooked up to a switch that controls 2 fans together. Easy to install for a DIYer and works properly. However, both fans hum pretty loudly unless the fan control is pushed all the way up to the fastest speed. I thought the 5 amp would be enough to avoid this.

Easy to install but, like other reviewers have said, causes the fan motor to hum loudly if not on the lowest or highest setting.
