Using the heat mats I has Tomatoes sprouted in 4 days and peppers in 8 days. Using bottom watering it keeps the water warm and radiates that right through the soil.

I use this in combination with the small cheap greenhouse you can find on amazon, along with some LED grow lights for seed starting. This is a really nice option as I can put 2mats on 3 levels using a single plug. Since each mat connects to the previous, its easy to have the connection loop up to the next shelf. With standard mats I'd have wires coming off every shelf which would make it hard to connect everything back to the outlet.I also like that these are simple with no temperature control. You just plug them in and they create a little bit of warmth. If you have more specialized heating needs, you would need to look at another product that has a temperature controller, or maybe look into a separate controller that will switch power at the plug.

I bought these to use for seedling germination and they are perfect! I love that you get two of them and you can Daisy chain them together. Perfect size for my seed starters and you really can’t beat the price! Very well constructed, and the easy control the temperature so you get the perfect seed of germination every time.

These mats have worked GREAT for germination, so much so that I recently ordered this set to add to the mats I already have (which is the set of 2 with the thermostat). This set SHOULD have given me a chain of 4, instead I have a chain of 3, and the last mat does not connect to the chain as both mats have the same connection end as pictured. Fortunately the last mat is warm, but it is not connected to the thermostat. Hopefully this does not affect germination. As it is connected to the third mat by the power cord, I cannot separate it and use it by itself. So, if you’re wanting to have a fully connected chain, make sure to just purchase the additional mat option, or you’ll have a straggler like I do.

I purchased this item to repurpose a metal and wood shelving unit to be an indoor plant nursery. I am able to use all 4 shelves, each with its own heated pad and light. I love that the pads connect to a single plug. They work well! Great product, great price. So far, many of my seeds have sprouted! Before starting the seeds I used the heating pads to warm my delicate plants during the cold weather, Wisconsin is pretty chilly in the winter, the heat and lights helped keep the plants happy.
