I bought this primarily to keep things from falling off the top of my fridge -- that's where I store my snacks. The magnet is strong enough for that purpose. As a homeowner, I occasionally need to level things. I have a smaller level for that, so I'm not sure when I'd use a two-foot level, but I have it if I need it. Meanwhile, my chips, cookies, popcorn, toaster pastries, pretzels, and chocolate covered rice cakes are neatly in place atop the fridge!

I have levels, but honestly wanted this one for the metric measurements. I don't work in metric by default, but get tired of converting it from SAE when I need to, and aside from a couple metric tape measures that I bought, don't have much of anything. So it's handy to have another way. The level is light as you'd expect, and the measurements are clearly marked. The magnet is on one side and isn't that strong, but just strong enough to hold it. I don't expect it will retain that level of magnetism over time so I wouldn't buy it for that feature alone. There's a hold to hold it, but honestly, wish it had more of a flat slot like the others I have do, because I have flat hooks that I use, but that's just a preference. I imagine just as many people prefer a round hole. The only other point I'd make is the sticker they put on it is impossible to remove by peeling it off. It left a lot of the paper backing that wouldn't scrape off, so I had to break out a label remover solvent to get the rest of it. Overall, pretty good.

I also ordered the 12" Magpie level and had no issues. The first 24" level arrived with the plastic torn open and one end cap missing. I requested a replacement and it arrived with the EXACT SAME PROBLEM. So I pulled the single end cap out of one and put it in the other, and will be returning a level with both end caps missing. They appear to have been glued in with a glue that does not stick to the plastic at all. All it does is make them fit more tightly. These don't get packed very well either. Both of them arrived lying corner to corner in the bottom of a very oversized box with a bunch of (but not enough) air pillows. This would really be ok, if either level had been complete with both end caps before shipping. I made sure the end caps were not in the box with them.It would seem to me that the end caps fall out pretty easily. Be warned. Other than this, it seems like an ok level. Very lightweight, which can be a good thing sometimes.
