After a few near misses on a icy roof, I decided to install permanent anchor points to keep me from going over the edge. There are different systems out there, but I decided on this particular type as I felt it was easier to install on an existing roof . The most difficult part was pealing off the ridge cap to get to the truss. One feature I liked about this particular brand/model was that the D-rings lay flat once installed due to the way the ends are looped around the D-rings. Yet they still have a full range of movement up and down when being used. The band itself appears to be stainless while the D-rings are corrosion resistant metal. Eight nails are included per strap, I elected to use appropriate sized screws instead. The predrilled holes are arranged in a pattern so all of your nails/screws will end up on the truss.Once installed, you can pretty much forget about them, as there is nothing to maintain. And it seems inexpensive versus a trip to the hospital.

I used this for earthquake restraints on cabinets, cutting each one in half. They looks strong. After the next big one, I will try to remember to update the review...

I purchased two of these anchors. The intent was to incorporate them into the roof of my home, which has a steep 12/12 pitch. I used them at the start of my roof replacement with a fall protection harness system. They work great. Unfortunately, they are not long enough to clear the GAF Cobra "Snow Country" rigid venting I chose to use. They had to be removed to finish the roof. They did get used heavily by me for navigating the roof, bearing my weight. I installed them with 9-gauge, 3 inch deck screws, which made for easy removal at the end of laying the shingles.

If you think your life is worth twenty bucks I recommend this and installing it and then your course getting the safety harness.

This was a great find for building a shop in my back yard. I was determined to do the roofing myself on my shop, and after a day of being on the roof without a harness and rope, it became apparent to me that I needed some fall protection. This gave me what I needed to be able to attach to the center of the shop roof, and be secure. If you are building larger than a 30-40ft length building, I would recommend getting at least two.

Complete kit nails included. Need to take care nailing as strap is same width as joist and nails holes close to edge. Getting centered on joist tricky.on existing roofing.

Easy to install, just the right length for under my ridge cap.
