I am picking up my guitar again after many decades of not playing. I have always used Martin strings both on my acoustic and electric guitars. These strings are for my Yamaha acoustic. I initially purchased regular, bronze strings. They were hard on my tender fingers and I didn't like the sound of the ones I chose as much as I was used to experiencing with Martins. They would have been fine on an electric guitar, however. I purchased these as an alternative. They are easier on my fingers and the sound is the more subtle and mellow that I was looking for. They are thinner and may not last as long, but we will see. I left my old, worn out bronze strings on this guitar all of the years I didn't play it and, while they had lost their sound, they still tuned up without breaking. I hope Martin quality has not changed in the intervening years. My Yamaha is one of the famed older guitars they made that have become desired collectors items, so the sound made by different strings is very discernable.

I have tried competitor's strings lately and found them to be of a lower quality and performance. The tone is consistent, the feel is what I have come to love and expect and these strings last.

Was diagnosed with cancer in 2016, so I didn't pick up the guitar for almost five years until I got some strength back. No calluses meant I needed to build them up again. These strings were recommended for me from a salesman at Guitar Center. What a great find! I can play for over an hour now with no pain. They also sound quite good on my Takamine. Best cost is at Amazon also.

When I purchased my 10-year-old son's guitar I purchased a second set of strings--but by the time it came to replacing the first set, I couldn't find that spare pack, so I ordered these Martin silked strings, and strung it up: with this new set of strings, and it sounded so good that I played it every evening for a month: I play blues and tend to bend the g string the most, and after a month of this it frayed at the fret below where I bend it the most... During that entire month, I noticed how easy it was to press down these strings, and how easy on my fingers they felt--like playing nylon string tension, but with metal string sound, both bright and soft at the same time... it was a five string guitar for a week, till when I found the original spare pack of strings, and just got out the G... I immediately noticed how much stiffer it was. But it feels weird with one string stiffer than the silked, so I could put the other five from the original spare pack on -- but nah: I'm ordering more of these Martin Silked, because I think they'll go easier on my son's fingers.

I use this set and I tune it down 1/2 step…. I sub a 12 and a 15 for e and b string…I play mine daily for a long time …. It has madeMy Epiphone IBG hummingbird feel like an old guitar … I tried literally 7 different sets of string and I hated them all…. These were the ticket ..!… and they got better week by week… I’mOld and my hands are good but not great…this guitar really requires some breaking in … I filed on the nut and bought a new bridge …I use low action …. I almost threw the guitar away.. I hated it so bad ./::but one day it tonally just starting being wonderful….and started feeling like an old guitar…Go figure…

These strings sound magical on my Washburn Parlor guitar! I love them. I’ve never had silk wound strings before, and these definitely won’t be my last!

Decided to try these on a Norman B20 Folk guitar and I'm very happy that I did. These are very nice strings for finger picking - they respond to a light touch very well . Very balanced - not too trebly and not to bassy. They've ben on for a couple weeks and they still sound fresh.

I never really enjoy playing my steel string acoustic as much as my other guitars. It never occurred to me this was because the strings made it such chore. Switching to these has been a real game changer. My guitar is a real joy to play now. I always enjoyed the lower tension on my classical guitar and these strings are made with a similar construction method to classical strings. Like classical strings they are not as bright as phosphor bronze but for me this is a good thing. I prefer the warmer, rounder tone these produce - phosphor bronze is just a little too brassy for my taste. Playability-wise they are somewhere between a conventional steel string and a classical. Finger picking is much easier and I can bend notes in a way that would have been a struggle before. I can’t really assess longevity as I have only just put them on, but to be honest unless they break in the next week I will be buying these again.

ich verwende schon seit Jahrzehnten Martin Silk and Steel . Die Verpackung ist neu, ich hoffe die Qualität ist die Selbe geblieben !
