much easier on the fingers with my arthritis I don't press down much. Does what it says on description. Tone a little different obviously than thicker gauge strings.

In my younger days I played 10s (0.010") on my electric guitars and 12s on my acoustics. Now that I'm older I find I get pain in my left hand and wrist if I'm not careful, so I've switched to 8s on my electrics and 10s on my acoustics. Due to the physics of sound, the tension on a vibrating string is directly related to the diameter and the pitch. Using a thinner string requires less tension, and is therefore easier to play.On acoustic guitars, 12s (where the thinnest string is 0.012" in diameter) are ubiquitous. If you have strong hands, they're "easy" to play. For the rest of us, 10s provide a much nicer playing experience. Some people say they don't sound as good, but I really don't hear much of a difference. I suspect many who think they do are experiencing a variation of the placebo effect: they think thinner strings will sound different, so they do. I'd suggest trying them for yourself. All of this background is to say that what makes these strings "easy play" is that they are simply 10s whereas most acoustic guitar strings are 12s. One reivewer said the top string was 0.009", and another said 0.0095", but I have pretty accurate calipers and I checked known string gauges on my other guitars for comparison. Maybe there's some variation in manufacturing, but the set I received had a top string of 0.010 inches. Now on to the other details of the strings: they do not come sealed in an airtight plastic bag, so the wound strings looked slightly dull and oxidized. This affects sound, and indeed they didn't sound as good to my ear as, say D'Addario or Ernie Ball strings that are sealed. Maybe I'm also falling prey the placebo effect, but I don't think so.

It's a good set of strings. They sound nice and light with a mellow tone. I usually play thicker strings, so these took a moment of adjusting to. They're a bit easier to play. It's a lot easier to strum the chords and pick notes with the thinner strings. They seem like they're good quality. I'm pleased with these. I'm not an expert on guitar strings, so I'll leave it at that.

New to Guitar so lots finger pain, friend told me to try these and wow, what a difference. Don't get me wrong, they still hurt, but not nearly as badly, definitely a noticeable difference. Would highly recommend.

I got these strings for my Epiphone PR-350 to replace the D’Addario strings that were on it. I was attracted to the Zager strings because of the claimed reduction in finger pain and soreness with these EZ-Pay Pillow Touch strings. The Amazon description and pictures of the package show these strings as Light Gauge, but there is nothing that shows the actual diameter. When I got these strings, there was a label applied to the back of the package that had, among other information, “Custom Light 11-50”. I assumed that this was the string diameter range. However, I measured the strings with my digital caliper and got .009 / .013 / .022 / .029 / .038 / .046 which is a bit different that what was on the package. Interestingly though, these were the exact same diameter as the D’Addario strings that I replaced. The strings went on my Epiphone and tuned up without any problems. They sounded great and stayed in tune well. However, I really did not notice any difference in the feel and comfort compared to the D’Addario strings that were on there before. Granted that I don’t play my acoustic guitars as often as I should and my fingers are more tuned up for playing the bass, which is my primary instrument. But I was hoping for something easy on my fingers and I just didn’t get it with these. These are nice strings, but they cost nearly three times as much as a set D’Addario 80/20 Extra Light (10-47) strings. These strings sound good so I’ll keep using them and maybe I start to get that Pillow Touch.
