Pros:Fair price.Good flavor. It smells a little stronger than some, but pleasant and robust.Performance: Burns long and responds well to restricted or increased airflow. Perfect for reverse searing, high heat grilling or low n slow smoking.The size of the pieces range from briquette sized to larger than a fist, with minimal chips and useless small pieces at the bottom of the bag.This stuff is dense and very hard. I think this contributes to the longevity and the perfect sizing because it doesn't break apart easily, allowing it to survive shipping and handling a little better than other brands. Very important for a commodity like this that is shipped across country and handled a lot.Cons:Takes a bit longer to light. This is actually a good sign, meaning that it won't just burn up really fast.It smokes a little more than some brands upon first lighting, and sometimes sparks and pops a bit. Kinda fun if you're a pyro like me, but be aware of the fire hazard.Conclusion: If the price remains at or below $1 a pound I will continue using this stuff. I like it better than FOGO, all things considered because it's half the price and actually performs better, with a similar smell (although stronger). I am on my 7th bag of this stuff and so far it has been consistently the best overall value, flavor and performance.

Used these to smoke a 6 pound pork butt, which took about 9 hours. Nice big chunks of lump charcoal, some somewhat obnoxiously large, so large they would not fit in my charcoal chimney. Regardless, even after a 9 hour cook, during which I didn't have to refill the smoker once, the coals appeared to even be reusable. So I did... I added a few new pieces to my chimney with some old ones for the next cook... same result. Amazing. Best value charcoal I've ever used.

This is a great natural charcoal option if you like a clean natural flavor. However, i would warn anyone who is BBQ’ing using this to avoid dry brush area. It kicks up a lot of embers. I never had other brands do this before. So use with caution!!

I wanted some lump charcoal to use with a drop-in insert on my gas grill. This was a great choice. Pieces are very manageable and should last a long time. A little goes a long way. These lit easily and burned super hot for about 2-3 hours. I noticed a decent bit of charcoal flavor without being too much. Overall, very happy with the value and performance of this charcoal. Would recommend!

I have a large Primo Kamado grill/smoker and go through about 4 to 6 bags of lump charcoal a year. That is about 100 pounds annually. I have been experimenting with different brands of lump charcoal. I have gone through one bag of the Masterbuilt brand so far and found it to be quite good. It is mostly larger size chunks for a long slow burn while smoking and a very hot fire when grilling. Of course there is always the small chip pieces that are found at the bottom of every bag of charcoal but there really was a minimal amount in the first bag that I used. The price is also quite good. I am ordering another bag and will let you know of the result.

Based on reviews, I was pretty pumped to give this a try. When I opened the bag giant lumps came out, which kinda surprised me. All the other brands I have used never had pieces so big. Nevertheless, I put it in the chimney and lit it. The charcoal sparked like it was the 4th of July. For the first time bbqing, I was actually concerned it would start a fire as it was sending up a lot of sparks. Once I poured it all in the bbq, it sparked less. It works though, food turns out good (which ultimately matters). I won’t be buying it again because it didn’t seem like it was fully charcoal.

The first time I ordered, I didn't expect it to be great because of the price. Now, I'm on my 5th bag and it has yet to dissappoint. Great size lump coal and not a bunch of crumbles. Great taste and quality. To add, I've tried all the big brands. This is almost half the price with the same quality in my opinion.

This lump charcoal is great, it lasts for ages as some of the pieces are huge and burn to ember for a long time. I had a test run bbq with and lit these coals at 3PM, they were still burning hot at 11PM, they do not produce a lot of smoke and they break down into ash nicely. Well worth it for the price.

Absolutely pukka charcoal. Amazing flavour, lights quickly and biggest chunks of charcoal I have ever used. Better than kamadoe jo big block! Perfect for masterbuilt gravity series.
