Loved this! My daughters a very creative child, and she loves any sort of paonts, or coloring. So when I found this I jumped at it. All the fun of painting with literally no mess? It was just too perfect. I reccomend it to any moms out there that want to encourage their kids to get creative but, dislike the hassle of getting paint everywhere.

My daughter absolutely loves these things.So here's the deal. There's a line drawing like in every coloring book. But instead of a crayon you use a brush, put on a little water, and use the little squares of paint to pick up some color and color it in. Doesn't make a lot of mess although obviously if they can paint on the page they can paint on everything else. But there's nothing to spill and there's only so much paint. Another benefit is they're not mixing colors and muddying up a more traditional watercolor set. Give those things to a kid and you'll get five shades of brown in a week.Now, that being said, if you look at the cover image - is it totally filled in? No. If you zoom in on the sky is it solid blue or is it kind of streaky? It's kind of streaky. That's what you're going to get. It's going to look like a kid used a thinned down watercolor to paint it, not like you took real paint and were expecting really solid colors over every inch of the page. It's probably more solid than when she uses crayons but that's not saying a lot.Again, my four year old thinks these are great, and it's a lot easier to let her do a couple of these than to do the full paint setup every time she wants to paint something. I'm sure she'll outgrow them but that's OK.

My daughter is obsessed with painting ... shes 3 years old and this is perfect for her. This is the best one I found so far because it has the paint at the top of the page where the other books had the paint colors in the actial pictures themselves .... you can still choose where to put the paint colors and the colors are brighter than other ones. My daughter is obsessed I just can't find a lot of them that only have the paint colors at the top... the rest of them have the paint colors in the pictures and are not as good ... not even close!!! This one is the best one that I have found in a long time!!

These books are awesome. We rip a page out, tape it to my 2.5 year old's kiddie table, give her a cup of water in the Melissa & Doug no-spill paint cups with a sturdy brush & let her go to town. Each page has just enough paint for the picture and the colors vary depending on what best matches with the drawing (e.g., if princess picture, colors will be pink, purple, yellow, etc. but if picture is of a bear in the woods, the colors will be dark green, brown, gray, etc). The paint easily comes off her plastic-topped kiddie table and her skin with just a swipe of a damp paper towel.I deducted 1 star for the included paint brush; it has a thin handle with just a few thick plastic hairs. Think cheapy dollar store brush but worse. If you use it, you will run out of paint long before the picture is complete. I get those 'value pack' bag of brushes from my local craft store (20 for around $5 or so) and any one of those will work much better. We give my daughter a 3/8" or 1/2" flat for filbert style with the coarse white hairs. She can paint the whole picture (and maybe a stripe or 2 on her arms, lol) before she runs out of paint. Far quicker results for a toddler's short attention span.

Cute and great for what it is, but I was expecting the "paint with water" books of my childhood where you put the water on the image and the ink is already inside the picture and just shows up with water. This one has paint squares at the top that you wet to get paint on your brush, then paint the picture like water color. That's not a bad thing - lets kids pick their own colors - but I think it's helpful to know this still involves paint and if left unsupervised there's still the potential for paint getting everywhere in the hands of a 4-year-old.

Both of my girls are obsessed with these watercolor books! We go through so many of them! I love Melissa and Doug. They really do make some of the best kid toys. I highly recommend this product, but keep in mind that one book does not last very long.

Cute pictures but the paint isn’t great. Difficult to get it mixed and there wouldn’t be enough paint to cover the full picture. They have tried to make it higher quality but it’s just harder to use especially for little ones.

This is a genius product!! Having the paint on the page minimizes the mess, allows for easy set up and clean up, and keeps my daughter entertained for a solid 15 minutes. Very pleased with the options and quick delivery.
