This fireplace grate is exactly what I was looking for. The front is 21", and the back tapers to somewhere around 18". My fireplace is also tapered in the back, so the grate fits perfectly. It also sets up a little higher than the one I am replacing, which I find preferable. The lower profile grates require cleaning out the ashes much more often. This one gives me a few extra days before cleaning is required. It is heavy duty, and should last for several years. One note: do not buy this grate for the tongs that are included. They are very thin and flexible, so they will not hold much weight. But again, the grate itself is fantastic!

Very good design. Holds the wood higher than my old fireplace log holder. As a result more air circulates making for easier lighting and a more consistent, long lasting burn. Looks like it is built to last.

Our previous grate was awfully outdated and worn down. The spacing of the support bars was also an issue.However, this grate solved our problems.The spacing of the supports is superb and allows for great airflow. The material is strong and the welds are really good.I believe we've used it for about five burns now and no issues. The material is just as strong and sound as when I pulled it from the box the day it arrived.The pricing was right, as a lot of fireplace accessories can get quite expensive. However, I did not like the tweezer like tool that came with it. I appreciate the thought of an extra gift, but it is really not necessary and quite cumbersome to use.

it is sturdy and works great, but oddly after several fires it has turned pink, like pepto bismol pink. hoping that will go awayEDIT: my fireplace is brand new, and I'm wondering if the pink is actually coming off of the brand new fireplace bricks. ¯_(ツ)_/¯

This is a strong, sturdy grate but the photo is not accurate. The ribs that run front to back turn up to 90 degrees on the front and back but in the photo they are at a 45 degree angle. This narrows the available space for logs by about 4†to 6â€. My last grate was made like the one in the photo and worked great but this one limits the amount of logs I can use. The photo is deceiving.

Spaces are too wide. Embers are falling through too quickly making it difficult to create a base.
