If you own a KitchenAid KES640X line of espresso machines then this is a must upgrade. I've owned the espresso machine for a good year and a half now and have always struggled to pull a decent shot of espresso that is consistent with the provided single wall double shot basket.Being new to the espresso scene (i actually make cappuccino out of the shot so...dont judge) watching videos and trying to figure out the right way to grind, tamper and pull the shot has been an interesting adventure which prompted me to put a hole through the included portafilter (the included plastic flow mechanism is definitely a design flaw that traps good crema in its crevices) which then allowed me to view & troubleshoot the flow of the espresso up-close. The constant sputtering and sprays after trying out various grind sizes, grounds & measuring the espresso yield i've concluded that my fate is sealed with the entry level espresso machine until i came across this basket filter on sale..Look and behold! A simple basket replacement, 18 grams of medium roasted grounds, exact same brew parameters yielded consistent amounts of espresso (about 65ml). Where it used to sputter and spray consistently now it sputters a lot less (my tamper skill sucks) and barely sprays! Flavor is much more consistent and the appearance of a nice layer of crema became a standard. Trying new beans have been more rewarding now that i can dial into the new grinds a lot easier! I do wonder what and how the "Butterfly Effect" compares to the "Deep Extraction" basket that they have on sale but that is a story for a different time.Overall the build quality is excellent as it fits snugly onto the original portafilter (a bit stiff but works fine for me). It looks like a thin layer of fine filter is fitted onto the rougher filter at the bottom but the thickness of the bottom layer feels like it will hold just fine. This is compared to the original provided basket which has started to buck from the tampering.Original basket weight : 28 gramsOriginal basket mesh diameter : 30mm (about)MHW-3BOMBER basket : 45 grams MHW-3BOMBER basket diameter : 50mm (about) Chuck the provided baskets and get them after market solutions. No regrets.

Overall, great value for money. This is a well-machined precision basket with evenly spaced holes, much better than a stock basket. It allowed me to grind much finer than my stock basket. (If you're already maxing out your grinder, it might be time for an upgrade if you want to use finer grinds with a precision basket.)I also like the extra mesh layer that filters out ultra-fine coffee particles. I've noticed fewer stray coffee grinds ending up in my shots now, which is a plus.I was tempted to go with more expensive options from more established brands, but this turned out to be excellent quality at an affordable price. I'm impressed with MHW-3BOMBER and hope they keep up the good work!

Just got it and start to dail-in. I use DF54 grinder for Profitec 600. When using stock basket, I can use setting at 11. Now I need to get around 5.5, otherwise, the extraction run too fast. The basket is straighter, so the puck comes out much cleaner. It also fit the stock portafilter better than the stock basket. Overall great initial impression.Update after 3-weeks of use: The grind size is back to 10 now, and extraction at good flow rate after 3-4 sec pre-infussion. Really like the clean coffee puck comes out of it. Very satisfied, and got the 22g BEP today.

This is very well made. The water flow is fantastic but you may have to go a bit finer on the grind. This is way better than the stock basket with Gaggia. The taste was way better too. Cleaning is not to bad. The design is good to. It work good with my Gaggia EVO but you cannot turn the portafilter all the way.

Moving from an IMS basket, the BEP has better extraction on my Synchronika. I am now grinding about 10 to 15% finer and the flow rate is fine. Flow rate was far too much with the same grind as my IMS.Rest a bit taller in my bottomless portafilter, so it locks in about 5 degrees less than straight. The IMS was locking in about 5 degrees more than straight, so it is not an issue.

After getting a good grinder, getting a good high extraction basket is the best way to get the most out of your coffee. This requires to grind finer than you typically would to dial it in, but once you do, it's a big payoff! My shots are brighter, richer, creamy and delicious. I can taste all the flavor profiles that my beans have to offer, and no more under extraction on the outside of the filter basket! The pucks always come out really clean and dry also.

Upgraded from the stock basket that came with our Rancilio Silvia and after some adjustments to my espresso recipe I was able to pull some tasty shots.

This review is for the 22g basket. Solid construction, snaps into the Portafilter fine, but when connecting to group head, sticks up a little far and won't engage completely (meaning the lever never gets to "perpendicular". Standard E61 group head, though doesn't seem to be 100% compatible with my Profitec.

I have a VST 20gr basket and was looking for a 18gr basket to use for a smaller dose of coffee. The BEP basket is well made, but its flow rate is far too fast for interchangeable use with the VST. I would have to dial in a totally different grind size to make it work. The appropriate grind size would be near the finest espresso setting capable on my grinder, a grind which would clog nearly any other basket that I have. I also didn't notice that it has the portafilter spring/clip ridge, which I was trying to avoid. These mistakes are totally mine and do not reflect what appears to be the very high quality of this basket. As such, I will keep it in case I switch to single dose grinding for my espresso. Even though I can't really use this basket now, I would still recommend it and would not hesitate to purchase another MHW-3BOMBER portafilter basket - after I made sure I read the description a bit more carefully.
