An ordinary (chisel) drill bit tends to walk, even if you center punch before drilling, on any wood but especially on hardwoods. These bits stay put until the real cutting starts. For larger holes I use a Forstner bit (works on the same principal), but below 3/4", these brad-point bits are the cat's meow. I'm new to Milescraft, but the case and the quality of the bits both seem top-shelf.

These are very sharp and they cut clean and accurate holes. The brad point is fantastic for locating the exact starting point.

The Milescraft 1812 Brad Point Drill Bit Set looked great on my initial visual inspection. However, when I put the 1/4 inch drill into my drill press it wobbled terribly. Maybe it wasn't straight in the chuck. So, I loosened and retightened the chuck. Same thing, terrible wobble. I put a piece of wood into a drill press vice clamped to the table and brought down the drill until it just touched the wood. I would normally expect a single tiny point of contact. But this drill was so far out of wack that the tip carved a donut shaped ring into the wood that you can see in the attached photo. For size reference, the width of the wood is 3/4 inch. I put one of my other drills into the chuck and there was zero visible wobble, so the problem isn't my drill press. I am returning these!

Comes in a sensible case, and the drills do their job in hard oak, which is good enough for me.

The bits are not straight, causing the drill to vibrate violently. Not worth causing my drill to destruct due to vibration, which will certainty damage the drill bearings and subsequent destroying a very good drill.

Have only used a couple but seem to cut well,especially for the price. Cant comment on durability as I havent used them enough

I’ve never found bradpoints that are perfectly aligned center. These have a bit of point wobble, but they have the least amount of point wobble I’ve seen out of other sets of bradpoints.
