I was doing an oil change on my cbr for the 3rd time and this oil plug was so loose I could easily twist it off by hand, so upon completing my oil change I went to tighten it. I turned it until it started to require more than my hand, then I gently started to finish tightening it 1/10th of a turn at a time with minimal force and upon three of those little, minimal effort turns the bolt snapped in half inside of the thread. In other words, in less than half of a rotation from being a bit tight, it broke. Turns out the inside of the bolt is hollow! I had to drill this out and if I weren’t lucky I’d have to open the side of the engine and use a bendable magnet with the opposite polarity of the drain magnetic so that I could pull it out and Honda bond seal the engine case back on!

The bolt broke off while trying to drain the oil. Would have been a catastrophic failure and require a new oil pan. Definitely not a good option and would never consider another of the same product. Upon inspection, the bolt is not even a solid piece or consists of being solid aluminum but rather a composite of some material.
