I have several of these around my hardwood floored house! They are sooo necessary to keep rugs that aren’t anchored by furniture from sliding/moving as you walk across them! This most recent one is perfect, as are all of them! I purchased it for a 5x8 wool foyer rug. I was in between choosing the 1/4†pad vs the 1/5†pad (not a lot of height difference, but definitely noticeable under a rug!) I had an old 4x4 piece of the 1/4†height rug pad left over from a previous purchase and placed it under the foyer rug to make sure it was going to give me the proper cushion for the thick wool rug it was going to go under. After trying the 1/4†left over piece for several days and feeling for the proper height/cushioning i needed, I decided since the wool rug is rather thick and cushioned itself I went with the 1/5†pad and it’s exactly what I needed!I also have this same non-slip pad in a bedroom under a 5x8 rug that lies over carpeting… you just flip the pad, felt side down, onto the carpet with the rubber side ‘up’ lying under the bottom of the rug. It keeps the rug from moving on the carpet and from having to be repositioned every several days!I used to use the old weblike, window-pane looking, rubbery, yellow pads (which actually do work) but after realizing that over time they start to dry-rot and turn crumbly under rugs, and some of those pads actually leave a checkered looking imprint on the wood flooring, I stopped using them.Other reviewers have mentioned a smell? I have purchased several over the last 2 years and not one has had an oder to it. They do come folded up and may need a little bit of time to flatten out, I’ve found that the thinner the pad the less time needed. I have easily cut them to fit with basic, good scissors. I always cut them anywhere from 1-2†smaller than the rug so that it doesn’t cause the lip of the rug to be lifted upand lies flatter along the rugs edges!

We are extremely pleased with this product for use as a gripping surface for our elderly chihuahua with the luxating patella problem so her rear legs are wobbly. We first put it in the hallway that has laminate flooring. She happily went to the rug for use, immediately. I had previously tried some rubber shelf covering that she did not like and would walk around. The only downside is the two young cats love to play in it, but, that's secretly a plus for us. We just straighten it out. Our little dog's mobility is massively increased. I'm buying more today to cover more of our flooring, both laminate and hardwood. No weird smells either, which I'm really sensitive to. Great value, perfect for the function needed.

The rug pad works well with the rug I purchased. It is in front a door and slides a little bit.

The rug pad was a good idea but continues to give off the most disgusting fumes after FOUR MONTHS - I’ve laid it out in the sun and in the garage thinking it would help with no avail. Now I’m past the return period and stuck with a rug that I can’t bring inside without intoxicating my household. Wish I would have returned for a refund when I could and taken other reviews more seriously.

Having dogs, I've invested in several types of washable rugs, with varying success. None of them stay put, even with the rubber backs. I've tried the mesh backers, which are even more slippery than the rugs. This pad is the only one that works, and I've now bought several of the 1/8". You can cut them to size, they do NOT move under galloping dogs or robo vacuums, they stick to the rug and to the floor. I even threw one in the wash by accident, it washed up beautifully and I hung it to dry. Will keep buying until all my throw rugs have this layer!

This rug pad smells like old tires. Has to set it out on the porch to off-gas. I think it will work pretty well though, once the fumes dissipate!

The only one not enjoying this product is the cat. She used to enjoy turning the carpet into an accordion at the end of the hall. Now she has to run like a normal kitty.Helps keep feet warm too.

Very deceiving. The description says that it is a Mohawk Home Navy Soho Fancy Trellis Geometric Lattice Area Rug but it is not. It is an under pad for an area rug.

It is so thin it should not be called a pad and I have no idea what purpose it serves.
