Easy and fun way to make Rootbeer with the kids. Used recycled and sanitized sparkling water bottles. Filled them 2/3 full. Squeezed the air out until the liquid was in the neck and capped them off. Fermentation carbonated the root beer in 24 hours. Make sure the temperature is below 78°F or it could overpressurize and explode. Refrigerate after the 24 hours to stope the fermentation.

I drink a lot of root beer and this is as good as any that I have ever tasted. The instructions were very easy to follow. It does take a little time to make because you have to wait 10 minutes each time that you sanitize, but that is hardly an inconvenience. The instructions say to wait one to three days for the yeast to do its work before you refrigerate the root beer. So far my root beer has been ready to refrigerate after one day every time. One batch is four bottles, but the bottles each hold 24-28 ounces depending how high you fill them. (I spilled some the second time that I made the root beer and I estimated that each bottle was 24 ounces.) This is the same evaluation that I gave the Mr. Root Beer Kit.

This kit is very easy to make and the end result is very tasty. However, the carbonation with yeast turns a great tasting root beer into a beer that taste like root beer. In fact, we had to dump it. We followed the directions to the letter and the bottles were fully carbonated overnight to the point where we were afraid we had two gallons of bottle bombs. That said, these kits make a great tasting - not carbonated - root beer! So forget the yeast!

My son and I had a great time making this while I brewed some "real" beer. All natural ingredients, with some great "sciencey" stuff and activities with yeast. Tastes great too. One thing -- test frequently for when the rootbeer is ready to be refrigerated. Too soon and it is flat and syrupy, too late and it is too fizzy and doesn't taste as good. A day can make a big difference
