cannot adequately tighten adjustment screws, and "stops" in the pencil mount axle has too much play in its motion to be useful. not sure why they thought that was a good design. should have just put nylon washers and friction hold, if screws could actually tighten. returned.

Pencil lead can't line up with the scribing point because the play in all of the fastening points is so loose. It stays 1/8" unless you manually hold all the parts together with both hands defeating the purpose of the tool. Spend the extra money for a name brand of go back to using a cheaper compass to scribe. Get what you pay for. When I have time I'll rethread the cross threaded (came that way on arrival) tightening knob and try to take out the slop in it.

It’s ok, and it was cheap, but it’s wobbly and doesn’t hold a height with any real amount of pressure because it simply won’t tighten well enough to lock in a specific spot. Might work for some things but won’t really work for my use. Should have just spent more money to get a decent quality one.

The end of the pencil holding the sharpener is probably going to be lost by next week making the pencil useless. It's very loose and will most likely fall out on one of my jobs. The scribing tool isn't great but better than the scribing tools I make on the fly. Spending the extra 5 or 10 dollars for the original or better clone version would be worth it. I know there are some full stainless ones out there that are more robust.

This is terrible. The scribe never stays after adjustments. Not worth purchasing.

My walls aren't straight!The walls of my basement laundry room are not straight.And when it's time to install a countertop with a sink, this tool is a lifesaver to make the layout match the wall perfectly so everything lines up.My countertop was initially straight, so it didn't stick to the wall because the wall wasn't straight.Now nothing is straight, so everything looks perfectly aligned!I don't know how I ever lived without this tracing tool before.
