About this item

  • EASY AND HANDY: Mark a dimpled starting point in metal, wood, glass, leather or plastic surface, prevent drill bits and screws from wandering around with one-handed hammerless operation
  • PREMIUM GRADE: This is made of hardened Cr-V steel that holds up to high impact and provides wear resistance, rust proof and strength to prolong the tool’s life
  • REPEATABLE IMPACT: The orange cap is adjustable to give increased or decreased striking force, and enables to gain uniform dimple size at every setting
  • ERGONOMICAL DESIGN: The punch body has deeply knurled finger grip to achieve easy handling and better control; the non-pinch comfortable cap makes a good cushion for your palm against spring impact
  • EXTENDED LIFE: The punch’s point can be removed for replacement or sharpening; a free spare tip is packaged in this set for even longer-term use

I already had the more traditional automatic center punch with an all metal handle but the force required to actuate the hammer was uncomfortable. The large plastic knob on the end of this punch works great and put an end to that discomfort. Overall quality is good and I have had no issues with its function after using it for a while on plastic, wood and aluminum.

... and this one was the best value, by far.Of the most popular "branded" versions (tools with the name on them, and/or made for them, and not just a generic pre-manufactured one) this one surpassed all except the Starrett (which was a definite winner, but over 6x the price of the MulWark). However, while the Starrett is great, I tend to lose hole punches often. So the Starrett will be in a lock box for special occasions. lol.One factor I like about the MulWark (besides the softer palm strike) is the spare tip. I'd prefer a much harder tip as these "hardened steel" tips are not long lasting on harder materials. But, the 2nd tip is nice to have. That way, if the strike needs reconditioned, I can do a quick swap out, and fix other strike later... if I could find where I put the other tip. 🤣 🤣In closing, you won't find a better auto nail punch until you hit the $35+ range. And even then, it won't be a noticeable difference until you hit the $60 and up range.

Great product, worked well. Needs to have it’s own case to store it.

So easy to use with just one hand and you can adjust the tension. Been great to have for all the projects at home. Used for metal door and dry wall projects like installing a new door handle that required drilling. Used also for hanging mirrors etc.

No detailed instructions are included. Website offers vague but no detailed instructions . Same with YouTube also lacking in specific details. This might be a great tool but it must be a great secret to know it’s exact functionality.

This is a really good value, quality made, automatic center punch. I've used it for steel, aluminum, and plastic and it precisely punches a decent sized dimple without very much effort. A nicely knurled body to help aim the punch and a rounded ball is pressed to 'fire' it. I have come to like the ball handle as it lets you angle the punch slightly and still maintain a comfortable grip.I prefer this punch over some of the way more expensive precision punches since it puts out a little more wallop and does everything else that's expected of it just fine. Comes with a spare punch tip too. They all wear out after a good while so that was a nice touch. A+

Out of the box, the Mulwark 5" Automatic Center Punch delivers its mark with surprising impact. Although the striking force is easily adjusted, I didn't find it necessary in my application. As to accuracy, when I took care in placing the tip, I was rewarded with reasonable precision and depth in a wide range of materials, including soft wood, hard wood, PVC and several grades of aluminum -- always enough to keep a drill from wandering which, after all, is the whole point :-).Recommended.

I use this product on every wood project. It causes a nice "dimple" in the wood preventing a drill bit from walking off target. It ids also useful fir placing material on a wood lather aligning ther drive bit with the centre marked dimple.

Gave this 4 stars because ,4 out of 5 times i go to punch a drill point it dosent fire? Gets stuck, not a big deal , just irritating.... good quality metal, hardened well , punched maybe 70 pieces of metal so far , point is still sharp , for that 5star, maybe i need to read the operating manual again ? Might have missed a page on the proper steps to use such an advanced metal denting ...denting tool! Lol , good product. Works

Looks like good quality (except for the cheap plastic knob on the end), but when I tightened it up (it arrived quite loose in the packaging) it wouldn't spring-punch (its only purpose). After taking it apart (the punch end is replaceable - a spare come with it) and putting it back together again a few times I did get it to work some of the time (not sure why actually) so kept it, but I don't have a lot of faith that it will work on my next project and cannot recommend it.UPDATE: I tried to use it on a project; I could only get it to spring punch less than 10% of the time.FYI - I have used these items many times before without problem (they are VERY simple), but this one doesn't work reliably.

Works once or twice, then jammed. Taking it apart, it seems parts jam inside. A tool like this really has to just work — and this one didn’t.
