Works on the KraftGeek and ANXRE Music Stands. Uses AA batteries OR USB. Batteries not included.

First, the light seems bright enough but the mount on the Kraft Geek stand doesn’t adjust downward as the top cross bar does. So if you have standard sized music (12 inches) the light is several inches above the music leaving the bottom portion of the music somewhat darker. Maybe not a problem if you’re playing only a single sheet as you could attach the music to the clips (suspended above the bottom rail). But you wouldn’t want to do that for more than 2 page music and certainly not for a performance.Second, the switch seems a bit feeble. On the light I have it is difficult to detent to the first position and it might not hold up to repeated use. Also once in place, the light bar is fixed so you can’t tilt the light beam to direct it further on down the page.Lastly, although I didn’t have much of a problem to open the battery compartment, my issue is being able to power it with a cable (the light has a ‘c’ plug) hooked to a battery. It seems that the light uses so little electricity that the 4.5v battery packs out there apparently have circuits that can’t detect the battery is being used so they shut off. I can power several other music stand lights with them but not this one.Maybe the next iteration of this light will either have a small resister to trigger the battery packs to stay on, or the light will allow you to use lithium AA batteries and the ‘C’ port could be used to recharge them.

This light is dedicated to the stand and will not mount on any other stand but it must be removed before the stand can be fully folded. Despite being expensive, it did not come with the 3 AA batteries required to operate it. To install the batteries, one must remove a very small phillips screw to remove the battery compartment cover (see photo). This is very easy to lose. The spots for the batteries were not marked for battery polarity (+ or -). A high pitched noise is emitted when the unit is on, which I've never heard from a stand light before. It has 2 levels of brightness. The unit can also be powered by a C style USB cable, but, again, one is not included. The instructions are very brief and cryptic and do not say whether the batteries need to be removed when using the USB C cable. It seems to provide sufficient light to see music, but, again has a very annoying high pitched noise when on. Many people may not be able to hear the noise if they have hearing loss, so that may not be an issue. For me, deal breaker. This product is trying to give the impression of a quality product, but is really cheap junk.I have several light-weight stand lights that can clip on quickly, provide perfect light, are adjustable for both brightness and location and do not require minutes of turning a screw knob to put it on or take it off. Additionally, they do not emit a high pitched squeal when on. The batteries can also be changed without a tiny phillips screwdriver. My recommendation? Don't bother.

I really wanted to like this light, as it integrates nicely with the kraftgeek music stand. In the end it’s just not usable for me:- Plugged in there’s an annoying hissing noise, which can get really loud depending on the power source I’ve tried.- with batteries on, it drains them down after a few practice sessions.- there are just much better clip on options out there, with longer battery life, rechargeable, stronger light and even warm light option (I have three Vekkia clip lights that do just that). This light just doesn’t cut it. Returned it after a week of use.

I think the KraftGeek music stand is the nicest stand that I've used in a long time, and I was excited to try out this light that's made to fit flawlessly on top. Let's start with the good: indeed, it fits flawlessly on top, and you simply screw it on and off. It looks very much integrated with the whole stand, with matching colors and trim, and it folds open in a similar way as the top portions of the stand itself. There are two levels of light, and it does a great job of illuminating the space. This will definitely see some on-stage use on dark stages. But I do have a couple of little quibbles with the light. One, the battery compartment is kind of a pain. The screw to open it is both very tiny and inserted very tight. You'll have to find an eyeglass phillips-style screwdriver and be very careful to not strip it out. Then there is what looks like a little latch to open the compartment from below, but it's a little counter-intuitive: you actually lift from underneath the whole lever area, rather than applying pressure where it looks like there's a spot to place a small flat screwdriver. Upon putting the batteries in, I would definitely recommend not over-torquing that tiny screw when you put it back together.Once it's on the stand, everything works great, but when it comes time to pack up and go, you'll find that it doesn't fold up against the rest of the stand like it could or should, design-wise. Normally I wouldn't even think to complain about this, as it already gets much more compact than the old-school stand lights I'm used to. However, the music stand itself is so perfectly designed that it's a little disappointing that it doesn't snug up like everything else. Basically, you'll have to take it off while traveling, and put it on just before you need to use it once the stand is already set up, or it won't fold back up quite as conveniently as you might hope. Its two wings of lights fold in, but not all the way together when it's on a stand, and there's no way to swivel the overall attachment downward into a more folded position. But again, these are relatively minor problems with an otherwise very useful light that looks perfect on this stand. The stands themselves set up and break down faster than any music stand ever. I'm ready to ditch my Wenger and Manhasset stands and switch to these for good! I just hope enough folks hear about these that they become more of a norm. It's like KraftGeek took a step back, reconsidered what a stand really needs to be able to accommodate in the modern era, and made it happen with the kind of attention to detail I'd expect from a luxury car company (except maybe not quite as luxurious where the light's design is concerned).

This was a gift for a friend who plays in a community band that visits many different venues. The stand and light fit inside his trumpet case, are quick to set up and directs the light to the music sheets.
